Winter and more winter. The rabbits are stripping the branches from the shrubs. Anything above the snow line is probably toast.

I knew your name (and can pronounce it) but I also thought that β€œmoi” was the French me and you were being clever with the word play. So, good to know.

Yes! Although Wentworth does treat Anne worse than Darcy ever treated Elizabeth, though neither come close to Edmund and Fanny

Yeah, not the best year for lots of reasons but the worst when it’s personal.

I hadn’t heard about your dad’s passing. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Close up of one of the goldenrod plants in flower.

Our goldenrods are starting to bloom. We’ve got three (or four) different kinds in the yard. Bees are always on them except when I go to take a picture - like they can see me lifting the phone.

From the front path can see the full garden bed with native planting and a bird bath. In bloom is cardinal flower, anise hyssop, and downy skullcap.

✨ MAKE YOUR RESEARCH FINDINGS ACCESSIBLE ✨

I promise you don't have to make TikToks. Maybe a Bluesky thread or a LinkedIn post?

Or my favorite option... blog your papers!

It is probably doing a job I can’t see where it is but maybe it will call in some friends to help

Probably an unnecessary re-post for anyone following me. But if this message reaches just one person who isn't aware that honeybees are not the solution (and increasingly part of the problem), then it's totally worth it!

Happy Whipped Cream Wednesday! Good ideas for reimagining the grass between our sidewalk and curb found here. Pair the book with your favorite java, topped with plenty of whipped cream and chocolate espresso beans, and enjoy the day. #books #gardening @timberpress.bsky.social

Well, I don’t think Proust is overrated. I think you’ll enjoy it if you want to keep going. But it did take me 9 years to read the whole thing. I read about 1200 other books while I was(n’t) reading Proust in that period.

I’m sure done but probably not enjoyed.

Sure they did because it would have been a plot device if they hadn’t, or do I spend too much time in regency and forget my victorian morals?

14.07.2025 09:59 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Sure but Richardson is overrated and think of all the other books you could read instead of one of his.

And 19th century rants about rural politics. What’s not to like?

I loved the first part of Middlemarch so much I spent the rest of the book annoyed and seething that the characters shifted.

Jacob, you should read it. It has everything you like about books: it’s long.

Northanger Abbey as the best not just of the Austen novels but of all time? Please say more.
