Anyway, I've been rewatching Buffy.

"Artists peak at 30", "30 under 30", "by 30 you should" ridiculous. Arts industries capital craves young people to exploit and burn out. It doesn't want older artists thriving and guiding the young. It also doesn't want artists to exist. Stop letting cannibals tell you you only matter on a plate.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

As an ace person, I just see physicality between characters as storytelling so it’s insane to me that ppl can see a graphic depiction of a head blown off and understands that’s fake but you put someone naked next to it and now it’s immoral. Wtf kind of logic is that.

I had a class on comics history.
1: newspaper comics was well paid work full of diff genres from action, thrillers and goofs, adults read these popular serialized stories
2: comic books were pulp fiction, lots of them about romances, crime and horror aimed specifically for adults

Hays Code was self enforced! So was Comics Code Authority! These weren’t laws and look what still lasted DECADES and destroyed careers/freedom of expression. US comics industry never recovered from it bc comics aimed at adults still aren’t a thing, that’s why manga filled the market gap.

I need all artists to know that using 3D models in your art is not cheating. Those free-to-use 3D models are literally there to make your life easier. Stop being so hard on yourself and just trace that 3D object. You don't need to be able to perfectly draw every object ever from memory!!
