The idea that anybody is looking forward to this is just so fucking exhausting to me. That first entry was one of my early "this extremely popular thing is shit and it feels like nobody else sees it" experiences.
The UK government is looking to make legal for AI companies that which any ordinary citizen could be taken to court for. It is on the cusp of approving theft *only* in this case, a truly unequivocal “rules for thee, not for me” scenario.

You don't have to fully disable it to cut down on the frequency of ads. Hell you can even manually place them and plan for where they'll go from the start if you're that level of attentive. @mattmcmuscles.bsky.social does this, complete with curtains down and curtains up on each side of the ad.

I'll give a pass to older videos because I do get that it may not be as well known that older videos (even previously unmonetized ones) get loaded up with ads when YouTube tinkers with certain things. But brand new shit? Fuck you for decided it's ok to subject your audience to that.
