Found these really cute design sketches for Adol and Lilia from Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys. These were drawn by the game's illustrator, Yukitoshi Hotani, and were sourced from the September 1993 issue of Dengeki PC Engine.

The PC Engine's first strategy game was Gaia no Monshou which was also the first PC Engine game by Masaya. Gaia no Monshou is a bit of a bridge between classic wargames and strategy RPGs and it's follow-up was Langrisser, one of the biggest strategy game franchises of the 90s.
