ICE claims it is pulling back its terror campaign in Minnesota, but life is still a nightmare for many Hmong Americans. π§΅β¬οΈ
Last year, the dangerous pattern of neglect and abuse at ICE detention facilities resulted in a record number of deaths.
This can't go on. Our members of Congress must act now.
We all need a safety plan. These conversations and information can prepare your household and group for the worst case scenario.
Safety plans have the power to prevent severe impacts and minimize harm. Follow our safety planning guide and get more information at minnesota8.org/resources
On top of the extreme damage left by ICE, thousands of our community members are being held in Texas detention centers indefinitely without reparable solutions. ICE may be gone from our streets now but their devastating impact has left many scars for our communities to heal, struggle, and grieve.
If ICE's departure means local and state law enforcement will be deputized for immigration purposes, we do not accept! Local collaboration with ICE is just as dangerous as ICE occupying our streets! We cannot allow police officers to become ICE agents.
Even before 2026, families have been torn apart, support systems wrecked, and legal pathways becoming less and less accessible. We reject state and local law enforcement entering 287(g) agreements and will always prioritize the safety of our neighbors.
We will forever mourn the lives stolen from us in Minneapolis; Rest in power Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti. Despite the supposed drawback of ICE agents, the presence of ICE did not start with the thousands of agents being flown into Minnesota.
We, as a community, have no reason to believe or trust this news. Operation Metro Surge wreaked havoc all throughout the state, tore families apart, used excessive force, and encouraged ICE agents to abuse power.
Businesses were forced to close, community members had to halt their entire lives in order to prioritize their safety, and people were taken and rapidly moved out of the state. Minnesotan communities are now forced to recover from the irreversible violence that has been done to our hearts and minds.
THE FIGHT IS NOT OVER β ABOLISH ICE
Our response to the end of Operation Metro Surge
Even though the administration says that they are ending operations in Minnesota, that does not reverse the harm inflicted or provide remedies to any of the impacts in our state.
Now more than ever, we need to show up and witness with purpose β Join our Constitutional Observer Training to learn how to best defend our community in public.

"I find myself wondering if I still have a home here in Minnesota, in America, in the world of the people who get to decide who is valuable and who is not, who belongs and who does not, who lives and who dies."

BREAKING: Border Patrol's notorious lead agent, Greg Bovino, is reportedly withdrawing from Minneapolis following public pressure.
The power of the people works β but our communities need safety. We call on Congress to demand ICE and Border Patrol leave Minneapolis now.

ChongLy "Scott" Thao was born in Laos and came to the U.S. with his family at just four years old. He's been a naturalized U.S. citizen for decades β but that didn't stop ICE from breaking down the door to his Minnesota home and carrying him out into the snow with minimal clothes on. π§΅β¬οΈ
