This is wonderful, and I *think* we are in with a shout this year. Sam has done a cracker here. ๐

Weโre proud to have local gaming company #NinjaTheory as a Silver Sponsor of this yearโs Women in Computing Festival!
We asked some of their team to share who their favourite women in computing are...
Thank you Ninja Theory for supporting the festival and celebrating inspirational women in tech!

@d0kk.bsky.social Look what arrived this morning!
I have Android, my post screen looks like the iOS one above.
After the success of Beach-Head, Bruce Carver was joined at Access Software by younger brother Roger, fresh from working on flight sims. So soon they they did the logical thing and made a golf game. It went quite well! New post on Leader Board:

Watched a lovely video on Leaderboard a few weeks ago: youtu.be/p_bBkKo8b74?...
It's interesting that there's a direct evolutionary line from the original Leaderboard through Links and on to modern simulators for indoor golf.
PERSONAL NEWS: After 13 years working as a (legendary) video producer for @eurogamer.bsky.social I have been made redundant in the recent Gamer Network cuts. I loved that job so much (probably too much) and I will miss the people and the opportunities it gave me, but I'm not ready to give up yet!
I'm following up on last week's #RandomGameSaturday with the Amiga Thunderbirds game. It's unrelated other than the license and where the C64 game exceeded it's budget expectations the Amiga game is a bit of a disappointment. The best part about it is the theme tune on cassette.
"Keep a copy of what's important to you."
"Punish your children one day."

Red Dwarf S1E1 was the first thing my family recorded on VHS.
Wondering what we're up to this year?
Here's a quick sneak peek at the upcoming events in 2026 here at CCH!

Weโre exploring the idea of running small, inclusive Retro Reset sessions for neurodiverse young people in and around Heathfield and would love to gauge interest.

For some stuff, like the streaming, you need to turn on the REST API in network services for it to work. Maybe Assembly64 also needs it?
I used to watch an episode of Buffy between turns at the end of the game ๐
This was the first Zelda I played, don't think I got too far with it - the waterfall is the last bit I remember.
Thunderbirds for the C64 from Firebird, the software publishing arm of British Telecom. It's from the "Super Silver" range which was a weird sort of 'premium but budget' price point of ยฃ2.99 rather than the usual budget price of ยฃ1.99.
Thunderbirds for the C64, the back of the box and the cassette tape. The back of the box features a couple of screenshots and some blurb.
For #RandomGameSaturday here is Thunderbirds for the C64. This is a puzzle game where you switch between Thunderbirds 1 & 2, each with slightly different capabilities. You also get a choice of items, each can get you past one puzzle which allows you to see further in the game without solving it all.

It's the waning hours of the day in Japan on which we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original Famicom Disk System release of The Hyrule Fantasy: Zeruda no Densetsu, aka The Legend of Zelda.
Azzy the adventurous kit will assist me in sharing some tidbits below.

Today marks 40 years of The Legend of Zelda! โจ๐ฎ
Created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, it launched in Japan on Feb 21, 1986, before going global in 1987.
21 mainline titles later, itโs shaped adventure games for four decades. A true gaming icon. ๐โจ

A snail stands out against some leaves, chlorophyll shows up red under a UV light the snail is a glowing yellow green
Another snail on some leaves
This plant shows up blue under UV light
Just did the Twilight โ Biofluorescent Walk at @cubotanicgarden.bsky.social it was great fun looking at plants with a UV light
Some consolation: That is partly a measure of how much free time your audience has to watch YouTube or Twitch, I know my 11 year old has more free time for that sort of thing than I do.
LIGHT LAMP
Note that if you are a steam user you can use www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/steam/ to load your library in, sort by playtime, then change the little drop down on the right on your game list to be metascore to see the rating of your most played games.
Post a fav game that got a 75 or less on Metacritic.
Dreamfall Chapters. It is a big game produced by a small team so can be clunky at times, and I know it disappointed some of the fans of the first two games, but I loved the world and the story.
I bought it when it got ported to Linux and it was fun, can't remember why I stopped playing it but I've not touched it for years. I should install it on my Steam Deck.
How do you like the self-help guides for retro collectors that @amylherndon.bsky.social and I made for @vcfsocal.bsky.social?
