It's a fascinating insight into #katemeyrick 's club. For more real life #dopegirls stories head over to my blog or get hold of @marekkohn.bsky.social fabulous book
Brave woman
Done!
#OTD #KateMeyrick London's nightclub queen passed away from pneumonia at the age of 57. For 13 years her nightclub empire made headlines in London and Paris. She went to prison several times for flouting licensing laws and came to symbolise the rebellious and decadent spirit of the jazz age.

A thoroughly refreshing read!
If you use archival material do fill this in. Anyone engaging in local or family history uses archives (including online material). Not just for users of the TNA at Kew (nor just England). #genealogy #FamilyHistory #genhour #LocalHistory #skystorians 📚🗃️
I'm just listening to it now. Delightful!
New episode up now. The Moon’s a Balloon by David Niven, with guest Rupert Everett in conversation with Andy Miller @iammilliam.bsky.social and John Mitchinson @johnmitchinson.bsky.social. www.backlisted.fm/episodes/227....
Delighted to hear this today! I have recently been investigating 'Nessie' as part of my investigation into 1920's nightclubs. So much speculation as to whether she actually existed! #Nessie #1920s #DavidNiven
I'm so intrigued by how people research and organise their work. Love the fact that you have Pukka pads and post-its.... looking forward to seeing what comes next.
If your great granny was a jazz musician, you know where to find me!
Delighted to help you build your jazz community here! I'm particularly interested in early female jazz musicians from the 1920's. The wonderful @ctackley.bsky.social is my go to expert on this but as many women go unrecorded, oral family histories will prove an important research tool.
This Sunday morning seems a good time to remind everyone that Mary Lou Williams, one of the greatest (and often forgotten) Jazz musicians of all time, wrote several Jazz Masses. And they are glorious. It’s worth your time.
