I made a commitment to my district to hold our State Superintendent accountable when he uses his power for personal gain or to enhance the power of private entities—and I intend to keep that commitment.
I am also calling on the Attorney General’s office to investigate any financial ties or contacts between the State Superintendent and TFA. Every potential ethics violation must be taken seriously, and it is crucial that we use the checks and balances in place to hold those in power accountable.
I have formally requested an Attorney General Opinion on whether Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters’ use of state letterhead and other state resources to endorse the Teachers Freedom Alliance while explicitly promoting it over other unions and professional organizations—violates state law.
If we actually want to help pregnant women, we should focus our efforts on prenatal and postnatal care.”
“We also want health care professionals to stay in this state to provide a million other services, such as serving women with cervical and ovarian cancers and helping for future healthy pregnancies. Our maternal mortality rate remains significantly above the national average.
“This piece of legislation limits the scope of health care that we can provide to women in desperate situations when their health is at risk,” Pogemiller said.
