Concierto en Aviles!
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.
They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

The CSR comm I'm on just pulled all Diversity F grants from the current review cycle. These apps are reviewed alongside (and by the same criteria) as all other F grants. So, instead of helping these trainees, they will actually be punished by having their grant reviews delayed at least 1 cycle !?!?
Note that this goes beyond the "official" CDC SVI done at the tract and county levels only. The development version of the package also allows downloads using the 2018-2022 ACS (github.com/heli-xu/find...).
In case the census API were to not work at some point, we have used findSVI to back up all potential combinations of the SVI for all census geographic units (e.g., census block groups, tracts, ZCTAs, CBSAs, etc.) for all available ACS years. You can find that here: zenodo.org/records/1481...
Let's all say it out loud. These people are fascists & this is a fascist take-over of the United States. You can couch your words more carefully, but the speed and ferocity of what is happening now is part-and-parcel of a coup. The GOP in Congress has surrendered. The Dems are out of their depth. 1/

The initial goal was to facilitate access to the SVI from R. For very different reasons that is still the goal.
If you need a tutorial and example, check here: joss.theoj.org/papers/10.21...
If you need access to the CDCโs Social Vulnerability Index, folks here had created the findSVI R package to reconstruct it using the Census API (which still works): cran.r-project.org/web/packages...
