My nearest neighbor brings me stories of all the songs she hears from her tree of birds. She has a sketchbook full of colorful featherfriends we page through during tea.
But I am happiest of all, living in a cottage no one wanted, swamped by honeysuckle, hearing secrets from the bees.

Whether Tipsy Bird, Swinging Bird, Tinsel Bird, and Hungry Bird are all the same little fellow I do not know.

The wind was pushing the swing, and Robin was swinging with it, back and forth, a gentle little sway.
Perhaps that was why the bird wanted the swing in the first place, and was too eager for the fun to wait for me to wake up.

Whether I am Robin Friend or Robin Food we do not know…but yesterday the wind was up, singing in the trees, and I looked out at the same wooden swing to see a bright little spring Robin perched on the back in just the same place.

We may hope this is because I was involved in the rescue of one of their kind, when she found herself tangled in a bit of Christmas tree tinsel, hanging upside-down by the foot in a tree outside my window.
I called for a friend with a ladder and kept her company until it arrived.
