That’s crazy. I was once driving into Omaha and saw a wall cloud directly in front of me, so dark it seemed to suck the light in, and a funnel started dropping but luckily dissipated. It was maybe 2 to 3 miles out but damn, scary and huge. Total storm-chaser moment.

That‘s where the fun is. There are some who‘d started using "AI“ after years of success as creatives, but I can’t help thinking that what got them into it in the first place is replaced by dopamine hits now. There are ways to use this 'creatively‘ but you have to give up agency and ethics. Pass.
Once you find your flow, you’ll be amazed how quickly ideas can come. It’s almost like they don’t come from our minds, but through them. It will happen, I’m not young either, well, that’s a matter of perspective I guess, but I’m solid genX. You’ll find your flow and when you do, bam.

Yeah, if you look at the P&L and CapEx for the hyper-scalers in the last 6 years, it’s telling. They want another iPhone, and "maybe“ had something with VR/AR, but chose unicorns instead. Some even depreciated GPUs out 10 years. At full load, that’s maybe 4 even at inference.
Yeah, definitely. From the start of this whole thing, none of the online ai-bro push felt organic, at all. It was heavily Astro-turfed with disruption narrative. There are people who hate paying creatives, and they’d always been the worst clients. The best know creative value and nurture it.
That’s where the fun is, and why creatives go through the hell of creation, and why poker (sweat equity) is always better than slot machines (ai slop.)

Exactly! Execution is everything, and even the best storyboards still leave rocks unturned haha. Even seeing actors go off-script and directors go, yeah… wow… do that, more of that. Script sup shakes their head, laughs, then makes notes lol.
I agree. I’d been writing a sci-fi horror for a couple of years, and every time I go back to it, I end up erasing entire chapters and building out in better directions, more aligned with my characters. I‘d thought I was a plotter but turns out I’m more Stephen King… I just hope my ending is decent…
Exactly. I think I still have a stack of scripts in my living room from when we were doing coverage for a big production company here in LA 20 years ago. Some are amazing, and we escalated them, but even those will never get made. Ideas are everywhere.
Agreed! Super8s were awesome, but damn, BlackMagic on an iPhone with a gimbal with a decent script (throw main character into hell) can go a long way. I’d been working indie film and helping directors, and damn it’s rewarding. I’m lucky that way though, and fortunate.
I get the brainstorming part for basic sparks, and even then, they’re not great, and there’s still the "LLMs trained on scraped work“ unethical part. Maybe a LLM only trained on public domain, but to be good, they need the whole internet, hence theft. Pencil, paper, and lateral thinking still rule!
This is the icing. I have more ideas than I can ever produce in the rest of my lifetime. Thats survivorship bias of course, but damn… Ideas are the easy part, execution, that’s a lifetime of mastery, until the plagiarism machines showed up. If these people can’t even do the idea phase… OMG.
