3 gold folium necklaces on a black background. each has a different shape and skeletal structure
3 pairs of gold folium earrings on a black background. each has a different shape and interior perforation pattern
I have added a new batch of one of a kind necklaces and earrings to our shop. Folium pieces are inspired by leaves and each has a unique shape and vein structure. They are available in stainless steel and gold-plated stainless.
I think we are going to have to rent a scissor lift. it's just too high to get with our A frame ladder. I'm considering these beam clamps now: meisterelite.com/products/mei...
Weβre a little bit worried about the cable being able to intersect with the fan blades if it swings, but coming directly down from the beam certainly simplifies things
Photo of the studio. the pink line indicates where we would add a cable
We need to add a way to suspend sculptures from the ceiling of the studio. The span is about 16.5 ft. The options weβve come up with:
1) run a cable from a stud to the steel column
2) add a cable hang directly down from the roof joist (not sure if itβs OK to drill a hole in the joist)
We get missing piece requests frequently but usually they arenβt ones we have found (so we make them from scratch)
The fact that nobody has ever asked for most of these pieces makes me wonder what proportion of the puzzles we sell actually get assembled?
Hand holding a small Ziploc bag dated December 4, 2025 containing a single blue puzzle piece
Sometimes we find random puzzle pieces and donβt know what puzzle they go to. So we stick them in a little baggie with the date on it. Someone finally wrote us asking for a missing piece and itβs actually one that we have in the bin!
Itβs fun to have new toys, but difficult to find time to use them
Stainless steel a little thinner than 1 mm
We got our new fiber lasercutter up and running finally! here it is making its first test cuts in stainless steel

a field of round wooden puzzles with macro photos of real snowflakes by Alexey Kljatov
For our latest Patreon reward, we turned photos of real snowflakes by Alexey Kljatov into puzzles. He had so many great photos we used a different snowflake for each puzzle. If you want one join our Patreon: patreon.com/nervoussystem
We've just made our largest custom jigsaw puzzle yet with ~4000 wood pieces! This is going to be insanely difficult to assemble
closeup of a 2 color octopus 3d print make on our original makerbot machine from a lifetime ago
It's been years since we had a functioning FDM printer. We primarily 3Dprint on a formlabs or send things out for SLS nylon printing. I'm considering getting a bambu P2S combo. It seems FDM printing has dramatically improved in the past 10 years. Anyone have opinions on which machine I should buy?
Looks like itβs right at home with those lasercut polyhedra
Just got this piece made by @nervousjessica.bsky.social and @nervousjesse.bsky.social and it's delightful, as their work always is.

Our pop up puzzle display in Art of Playβs magic theater space
View of the main shop area
We drove into Brooklyn in a snowstorm yesterday to do a pop up at one of our favorites shops, the Art of Play. What a pleasure to be in a carefully curated shop full of weird wonders and games. Definitely recommend a visit if you are in NYC but they do have a website too www.artofplay.com
We were just talking about that. I definitely think my kids have a skewed vision of whatβs normal in terms of your parents just making stuff all the time for you. I doubt the things we make are better, but theyβre certainly more tailored to our kids specific interests.

Me wearing the necklace every single day
Thereβs still time to order Nervous System jewelry (and puzzles!) for holiday delivery. My daily necklace is the Reaction MΓΆbius Necklace in 3D-printed stainless steel. It's virtually indestructible and doesn't tarnish n-e-r-v-o-u-s.com/shop/product...
If you aren't familiar with them, Art of Play is a really cool toy and game shop for all ages AND they have a performance space for magicians too www.artofplay.com/pages/brooklyn
Itβs been very fun to noodle around with just making intricate shapes without having to worry about making them a functional object
Brooklyn friends: Nervous System is popping up this weekend at the Art of Play shop with 4 other NY makers from 11-7pm on Sunday. Come say hi and shop mathematical puzzles, sculptures and jewelry www.instagram.com/p/DR0a8Oljyr...
