Trump is adding anti-trans provisions to SAVE America Act
Trump appears to be using culture-war issues, which are popular among Republican voters, to increase the pressure on Republican lawmakers to back the bill.
π¨BREAKING: The White House confirmed Friday that President Donald Trump is pressing Congress to add new provisions targeting transgender people to the SAVE America Act β a sweeping anti-voting bill that could disenfranchise millions. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Yes we need to reform prop 13 not only because it helps reduce supply but waiting for inheritance transfers but it also reduces public funding which cities try to make up for through development fees which help increase the cost of housing. Prop 13 is simply bad legislation

Please read this article to the end. Even before ICE got involved, this started because this *blind man who speaks no English and uses a curtain rod as a walking stick* got lost on a walk and some Karen called the police on him and they tasered and beat him bc he didnβt drop the rod. WTF

Fantastic stuff here from Pritzker. If you're a Democratic governor, mayor, or city council member in a high COL blue state right now and you aren't laser focused on increasing the infill housing supply, either get your shit together or resign and let someone who will do the job.

At a time when Black history is being erased, itβs more important than ever to keep diverse stories and histories alive.
This Black History Month, I wanted to share books that have inspired me and are fundamental to my thinking, politic, & how I represent our district in the Capitol every day.

interesting to think that revolutionary era americans understood themselves as making a break with the βold worldβ and establishing a new civilization. and crucially, this new civilization rested on republican self-government, not βsovereignty.β

"Minutes into his keynote on Tuesday, Benioff asked people who had traveled from outside the US to stand up, then suggested ICE agents were waiting for them in the back, employees who heard the comments said. He also suggested ICE agents were around for employees who had yet to use Slackbot, and complained about Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show."
He asked all those who'd traveled from outside the U.S. to stand up...

BART is recovering from an earlier problem. There is a 20-minute delay in the Berryessa, SFO and Millbrae directions due to an earlier equipment problem on the track between 19th St. Oakland and MacArthur station.

I realize media doesnβt think itβs a big deal that Trump, Vance & Hegseth continue to give partisan political speeches to troops, evidenced by the fact that they are never asked about it nor are members of Congress, but it is one of the most dangerous things happening right now.

Itβs so hard to imagine no BART that itβs challenging to process that phase 2 (cutting service 70%, closing 15 stations) will ultimately lead to BART suspending service entirely.
Slashing service would crater ridership and revenue and lead to end of BART.
We must pass Connect Bay Area measure!

Staff looked at 18 different schedules and options and found the stations and line closures would provide the most savings however we asked them to show us what the no station closure path looks like as far as cuts in other areas. Should see it next Friday when the board packet is published

We also had Warm Springs (2017) and Berryessa (2020) stations open and had to hire ppl to increase service from pandemic levels. Still, I do agree we need to keep headcountβs down and focus on frontline staff to keep our costs down and show we are doing what we can to stretch every dollar

Trains & stations, and safety. All of those things cost operation and capital dollars. I agree that it is better to provide good service instead of asking for money after cutting back on service. BART headcount has grown as a result but at a slower pace. Some teams are still understaffed

Mismanagement in any audits. Have they substantiated individual cases of fraud waste & abuse? Yes and BART has moved to discipline and get $ back.
Why hasnβt BART downsized if weβve had a deficit for a while? BART made the decision to met the demands the public had such as quality transit, cleaner

Of overtime and we have a deficit. BART OIG audited overtime and flagged things that needed to be improved and BART staff accepted the recs and is making improvements. Does that mean they found systematic fraud? No. BART has accepted almost all of the recs from the OIG. To date she has not found any

Iβm hopeful the community will rally to support public transit, if no new funding materializes, I suspect many employers will expand WFH options as service is cut. Truth is that in a scenario with budget/service cuts, even the doomsday scenario in phase 2 is not guaranteed to balance the budget
