I am not an 8999 hater. I have had and worked with good and bad ones. I have also worked with good and bad MSgts of various MOSs. If I had to be without one, I would unhesitatingly choose to keep MSgts and lose 1stSgts.

I agree both that this is the thinking and the reality; however, by not making this a two-way street, the policy is implicitly saying that 1stSgt is a step up from MSgt. A lot of 8999s already think that way, and this only confirms their superiority.

So this program only allows transitions from MSgt to 1stSgt and not the other way, too? Absolutely nuts.
