I think I noticed your flag! We have the same one on our house but didn’t bring it.
We were in that crowd somewhere. Hands off!
An amazing view above the Minnesota State Capitol in St Paul right now.
This must be bigger than anyone imagined. 👏
These are some of the largest protests the US has seen in years.

I wish this was an April Fool’s joke but I’m sure it’s not.
Every time I hit something like this it makes me feel queasy. What illicit information was I looking for? The National Agricultural Workers Survey.

I was terminated on Valentines Day from my dream job. 48 weeks ago I started my permanent NPS position as Yosemite's new Locksmith. y I apprenticed under the previous locksmith the 4 years before his retirement. He had a wonderful carrier of 23 years with NPS. He said, "This is a good job Nate, the park can't run without a locksmith, do your job well and your'll always have job." Well now 3 weeks short of my probationary period l've been fired. I've had exemplary performance and am essential for park operations. The people that fired me don't know who I am, or what I do. They simply don't understand this park and how big and complex it is.
I need to immediately move out of housing, I have lost my career and I have NO PLAN. This was my dream! All of my eggs were in this basket and I planned to stay till retirement. I had an appointment to meet a realtor today, but canceled, everything has been flipped upside down. I'm scared I?????????????????????!!!!!!??????????????????] I was terminated at 1:15pm 2/14/2025 via email. Yosemite National Park the size of Rhode Island and has more locks than a small city, and without a locksmith I'm deeply concerned for the safety and security of the park and people in it. This is not right! -1 @nytimes @nationalparkservice @yosemitenps @outsidemagazine @nationalparkfoundation @natgeo @sfchronicle @meidastouch @washingtonpost #iwantmyjobback #iloveyosemite #nps #unemployed
The deranged DOGE rats have fired Yosemite National Park’s *locksmith*.

What’s working today for you?
For me, it was this cute watercolor tulips exercise by Andrea Nelson, treadmilling while I watched a fun episode of something, and the 5calls app.
That metal spiky… breastplate? Bib? Shirt? Thing! Is gorgeous.
Oh yeah and we skipped the cheese on top. I don’t think anyone missed it.
I sorta followed this recipe: www.allrecipes.com/recipe/22200...
although I messed with the sauce a LOT, adding chickpeas for protein among other things.
Made fancy ratatouille for dinner. First time trying to make it fancy. Everyone loved it!
NEW: On Section 504. "Attacks on any one group will be used as a wedge to attack all of us. You may not personally know any trans people, and you may even be uncomfortable with the idea ... but letting this attack go forward will eventually hurt you and the things you love, too." /1
I’ll have to look at that again after coffee. Right now I see some excellent principles, and a list of 3 good (Delta, Apple, Ben & Jerry’s) and 3 bad (McDonalds, Meta, Walmart) companies.
I don’t know what you think you’re accomplishing here… but unless it’s convincing a very small corner of the internet that you’re a jerk, please stop or try a different approach.
That incremental change is better than an all or nothing attitude? Yes, in general.

Things that made me tear up today; Chris Kluwe speaking out against a MAGA plaque and being arrested for civil disobedience.

Washington Post is reporting that the US Gov't program to send free COVID tests to households will be shut down tonight, and the remaining tests destroyed. If you haven't already ordered yours in the latest batch (autumn 2024's) it's super quick & easy, price $0.00

Sure. I just think that some people are daunted by absolutes and will think “I can’t go vegan, so I’m still gonna eat beef 5 times a week”. Reduction can help people gradually move to elimination.
15/ bring our own bags etc when grocery shopping
14/ switched to laundry sheets instead of liquid. We use TruEarth but there’s lots of good brands out there.
13/ bought a bidet, and use Who Gives a Crap waste-free TP for our toilet paper.
12/ what this thread is! I hope this makes you realize that there are things you can do. ☺️
11/ investing wisely is probably the area we need to do the most work in. I have some of my retirement funds in a Social Choice Equity fund, but could probably put more there.
10/ when we go for walks in non-snowy weather, I always carry a plastic bag to pick up litter. Sadly, it always gets filled. Happily, that’s one less bag of trash in our streets and heading for the Mississippi River.
9/ my yard is increasingly native, pollinator-friendly plants. I paid full price for some plants but have also gratefully received seeds from seed libraries, friends, and acquaintances. It’s a slow process but I love seeing the change and others compliment us on our garden.
