Oh I don't think we want him. Can't you send us Taylor Swift again, please?

Fabulous finale to my summer tour, ending at @wlvuni.bsky.social for SciFest. Special thanks to @drkhechara.bsky.social and @heatherangellx.bsky.social.
@gregdaviescomedian.bsky.social Hey, Shrodinger's Davies.
Thanks for the performance space @uclan.ac.uk. Wasn't haunted. You're free to carry on.
Just want to thank @uclan.ac.uk for the amazing festival last week. I had incredible audiences. Hope you don't offend the ghost in the Michell Kenyon lecture theatre. I think they know Robert Plant. π
Two eggs, fifteen soldiers, right?
Loved contributing with @geoffreybunting.bsky.social on his fabulous article on ghost hunting tech.
19:57 Possible Aurora on the UK.
March social! 18:00, 19th March, The Stable, John Bright Street, Bham. If you're interested in science communication, practice outreach, or want to meet people who can help you get into it, come along and say hello. All welcome.
It's #WorldBookDay, so I've made a list of some #popsci recommendations that have inspired me in some way. Here you go: jonwoodscience.com/2025/03/06/w...
My tiny contribution to journalism is near the end of this article celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Xbox Kinect.
(...it's the ghost hunting bit, not the, erm, other stuff.)

Did giggle to myself this morning. Had two major notifications from YouTube. The first alerting me of my channels 14th anniversary. The second told me I'd reached 100 subscribers.
I STILL felt pretty chuffed. π
BrumSciComm is joining the 'STEM, LGBTQ & You' event for a SuperSocial! We will be at the Goose OVT, Selly Oak, on Friday 21st Feb, from 17:30.
All are welcome.
Very excited to be performing #GhostsInTheMachines tomorrow at the #NorwichSciFest. Shows at 1pm and 3pm. Last few spaces available for the later show.
What pipes are the pipers piping? @jon-wood.bsky.social has a look at how the materials that a pipe is made from can actually slow things down tinyurl.com/mpcvn3v5
#12MaterialsOfChristmas2024
Triggered by conversations with a journo about the #Kinect, I've finally written about why I wrote a science show about ghost-hunting tech. It started technically, but became more personal as it progressed. You can read it here: jonwoodscience.com/2025/02/06/c...
Our first anniversary warrants a flashback to the wedding day. We didn't want posed photos, so we escaped the guests for a wander around the city of Lichfield, acting like kids. Our brilliant photographer just documented our journey and caught some unbelievable moments.
Day 1 of #12MaterialsofChristmas24 is brought to you by @jon-wood.bsky.social and burning steel tinyurl.com/mvca8n3k
@dralistruthers.bsky.social please feel free to add me to your outreach and WP list. Thanks.
Tried the AI slo-mo frame fill-in thing?
The #Entertainer have just won the Christmas advert war.

One night of the year we can burn the leftovers frozen m the projects of the year. #FamTime
...and I'm taking it dead seriously, as you can see.
There was a moment, many years ago, I asked my university to create a scicomm and outreach role for me. They did, but then didn't give me the time to do it out of my full time role. Today I return as a visiting lecturer to talk to students about the value and journey of my scicomm career. π
I still refer to this activity. An amazing way to unlock the conversation about the genome. Thanks for sharing it.
And to accompany it, I've been posting resources about how to make and code the tech you can use. Is it because I want you to go ghost hunting? If it helps you develop scientific and practical engineering skills with tech... sure, why not.
Note: any ghosts you may find sound like a 'you' problem.
And I'm a scientist who specialised in creating entertaining and engaging shows and workshops to reach audiences who weren't interested in science; hence the 'Ghost Hunting' show. If you want to know more about that, then I blogged about I here: jonwoodscience.com/2024/03/21/g...
So this is my wife. We've know each other since school and both lived lives prior to coming together. It's always a long story. So, I have two stepkids/adults too.
Oh, the picture is the Queen's seat at Geiranger Fjord, Norway. Big thanks to the rando, Euro-teen that took it.
So it's a sunny, late October afternoon in the Midlands. There is a heated dispute at the bar about some football stats... I think, anyway. I'm in Dudley and Google Translate can't save me. Even this guy looks like he's waited too long for an O2 phone signal.
So I'm just migrating to Bluesky from Twitter/X. It's not a political move; I don't care for that stuff. I'm not abandoning it, just migrating. I'm also going to mix in some personal moments as well as work... I'm that age where the distinction doesn't matter. Welcome to one and all.
