A bit late to the party but I am quite proud of what me and the rest of the W1HQ team did as an MSLP in ARRL DX Phone. A lot of ops new to contesting, and they all seemed to have fun with it.

10m cleaned up finally. 1159qs for the contest overall.
On my second shift at W1HQ for ARRL DX and the dayshift has been much better to me than the first night. Having a good run on 10 even with LP. #hamradio
Yeah, at least in the US every hamfest usually has a card checker, but thats probably not the case on your side of the pond haha.
You can always go dig up those cards and get them checked by a LOTW card checker, which will put them into lotw, and also confirm them for awards.

Based on ARRL 10m raw scores, I’m #3 W4 and #1 for Tennessee in my category! Quite nice for an 11 hour effort in a 24 hour contest.

Within an 8 mile radius means it might be coming by skywave if its at night or NVIS during the day. My guess is some industrial plants spurious emissions.

Yeah, I’ve been lucky enough to use some nicer radios recently during contests, like the flex 6600m and yaesu 101d. Still need to sit down with a k3 or k4 for a few hours one of these days before I decide what to swap my 7300 for.
How do you like the K4? I give it a gawk at every hamfest I end up at.

I like using APRS in my car just to see how good the network is all over. Kinda circular reasoning but I like it. Plus I can send text messages and regular aprs messages when theres no cell signal.
