UAE Team Emirates' plan with Pablo Torres is clear: they don't want to rush him. In Mallorca, he had tonsillitis. Team decision? Rest him and let him return in Oman. Step by step, as the season is long. The intention, btw, is for him to make his Vuelta debut this year.
🚨 I called Tom Dumoulin looking for answers to understand Simon Yates retirement. He delivered.

Anyone out there that has listened to this Fuglsang w/Pogačar episode?
All speculation here, but, considering that Seixas's peak will arrive in a few years, will it match in time with Pogačar's decline? Will him be the one to make the Slovenian—and all of us— see that his time has passed?
🇪🇸 Here's an unprecedent milestone in Spanish cycling: for the first time in history, the national team has called up three siblings for a major championship.
Meet Pablo (19), Celia (17) and Jaime Torres (17).

Called Ralph Denk to talk about the signing of Remco Evenepoel, the (many) changes within the team, Roglic's annoyance about it, and, of course, the gigantic Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe project.

Movistar is making steady progress with its new devo team. Despite Roberto Capello's last-minute rejection, ten young riders have already been signed for 2026.

Samuele Privitera of Hagens-Berman Jayco (19yo) passed away following a crash at the Giro Valle d'Aosta on Wednesday. He had WT-potential. A statement released by the race organisers
He gifted Wellens polka dot jersey so he can celebrate his 100th win on rainbow jersey. Psycho.
Beyond that, it's interesting to look at the distribution:
In 2024, Pogačar scored 24 of team's 81 wins (almost 30% of the total).
So far in 2025, that percentage has dropped to 24% (11 wins out of 46).
UAE had 43 wins at this point last year. This season they have 46.
🇪🇸 Spain National Championships are NOT in the plans of Juan Ayuso, Enric Mas or Carlos Rodríguez, per sources.
Neither in the schedule of Mikel Landa, still recovering after Giro' crash.
Both Alex Aranburu and David De la Cruz will defend their road and ITT titles in Granada.
From his sunny altitude camp in Sierra Nevada, Jonas Vingegaard has sent a warm hug to all those who proclaim that to be a cyclist you must wear long and preferably white socks.
We NEED this kind of stages in Grand Tours. What a joy.
As for the rest:
▪️ I really liked Pellizzari. Thought he'd have a harder time making the jump to RB, but without Hindley, he's established himself as team 2nd option in the mountain (yes, today ahead of DFM).
▪️ Let's talk about Vacek. What a rider. What a Giro for him.
Juan Ayuso showed two things today: atomic legs (he warned us yesterday)... and maybe an excessive focus on Roglic. He only had eyes for him; the others didn't exist. It worked, though.
Superwin, but there's a long way to go.
🚩 News about Pablo Torres after today' crash:
No brain damage, but he will sleep at the hospital as a precaution. Tests have also ruled out shoulder fractures, but a second opinion will be requested because rider still feels "a lot of hurt".

We talk a lot about UAE and its records, but Lidl-Trek's first half of the season has been outrageous. Second in the UCI rankings, they have 16 wins, 34 podiums, and 84 top-10's. Now, at the start of the Giro, they've already won two stages and own three of the four jerseys.
44
Beyond those 37 wins (were 30 as of last year' May 4), UAE has already 80 podiums this season, same as Ineos, Visma and Bora combined.
There's a kid in Spain who refused Pogačar' UAE and did the preseason stage with Movistar Team.
Don't forget his name, because he is only 18 but has left some interesting things here.

Torres won't be at La Vuelta
2027 'SuperWorlds' are forcing La Vuelta to change its calendar.
“It's not what we want, but there's no other option”, the organizers say.
