In October 2024, right before the election, their church service was one big Trump rally. Dr. William Hinn, brother of Benny Hinn, said, "When you vote, you better vote right" and "If you're going to vote Democrat, I cannot pastor you."

Fun fact: Katy was evangelizing on a ferry and that's how she met her husband, Tom. She approached him and proselytized and invited him to church and they've been together since. I know a few people who converted their spouses then married them.
Part of me appreciates that Katy's begging her congregation to have compassion and help the suffering. Part of has the "no" feeling because I know her compassion has strings attached and the motivation is the convert people and coerce them to change and conform to the rules of her sect.

Some of the pastors at their church have been trained at Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry. The people in this sect are really scared of death and disease and gaslight themselves into thinking if they say just the right words and get prayer from the right people, then they can escape suffering.

I was looking at her non-profit missions org and their expenditures make it seem like most money is going directly to the schools in Africa and the Vision Tours. The Cornells say they travel to Africa about twice a year but don't put travel as an expense on the tax forms. (I'm not a tax expert)
Pastors are often already leaders in the community and its not uncommon for religious leaders to run for office. Some make good government officials, some don't.
I'm sure her followers are treating the candidacy like a missions opportunity and, if she wins, it would definitely be considered part of her pastoral calling. They're probably wanting people to give above and beyond their tithing to the church.
I bet a lot of the other donors are congregants at her church. It makes sense, they already like her and follow her and donate to her, so they would also donate to her candidacy.

Part of what they do is operate a few Christian schools where they provide a basic education while also teaching them about straight white fundamentalist Jesus.
Missions orgs can genuinely care about people and do work to help them while also doing harm to communities. It's a complicated mix of patronizing white supremacist traditions, colonialism, evangelical aggression, Christian supremacy, and far-off orgs spending gobs of money doing missions tourism.
