is it @rose.bsky.team ?
who do i need to talk to about this? Can I speak with the manager?
if there is one thing that would help bsky grow it's the algorithmic timeline. that was the biggest unlock.
defaulting everyone to a reverse chron follow graph is a user experience & growth killer
thanks! I didn't realize the latter included my friends :)
makes sense!! it was a reminder of the importance of speed
did Threads implode or something? why are people suddenly on bsky?
without a ranked feed good posts never get seen;
without ranked feed bad posts get seen a lot;
without a ranked feed creators need to think about when and how they're posting which leads to less creation; without a ranked feed new users don't find good content
etc etc
should be P0 for the bsky team
bsky needs a ranked feed. that would do wonders
Watched S1 of Silo on AppleTV and then started the book series... It's so good!! Half way through Wool and kind of obsessed with it...
just got my first bsky spam notification! Bsky growth milestone unlocked
does bsky have a ranked feed I can add?
e.g., Ant or tree intelligence. are the LLMs we have today insufficient if they were available in distilled form at scale with improved interconnections?
this all makes me think that we are not over-estimating today's models but actually underestimating them... if knowledge is in the aggregate knowledge of the "bumpy and lumpy" system as a whole, then smaller models on the periphery are all you need - i.e., we already have this!
"There is no legible way to assess the smarts of any single unit in the system, taken on its own. Furthermore, there are many “walls,” meaning knowledge is bumpy and lumpy under the best of circumstances. It thus makes little sense to assert that an entity is “3x smarter” than before. "
from MR today: "For these Austrian and Austrian-related thinkers, knowledge is about how different parts of a system fit together, rather than being a homogeneous metric easily expressed on a linear scale." ... marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevo...
I love that you can just link to stuff here, like the Internet gods intended
oh wow, this place has people now
testing this personal kpi rubric - in theory should be easy to be green... "in theory"....
AI's real-world impact is a function of available APIs
this made me realize we already do have a model where we assign tiered rights to various living and non-living beings - we just don't formally think of it as such and it's not easily legible
Spent time yesterday reading "The Line: AI & Personhood" and after hours of reflecting I realized the premise is flawed since the notion of "personhood" we use in the US hinders more nuanced discussions about what rights we give living and non-living entities... some thoughts:
turns out @gordon.bsky.social moving was enough to get me to restart my bsky account. it's been a while!
That’s awesome. Yeah, it has some awesome stuff. A bunch of tips I didn’t know about :)
Just discovered r/onebag for minimalist travel… Reddit can be so great

This last episode of succession has such great dialogue.. imo the best so far this season…
I like that it feels small and cozy (for now)
