This is really impressive.
This is really impressive.
Current NIH leadership want you to think they are using rigorous, consistent & scientific processes to screen studies to align them with agency priorities.
But the process that they have put down on paper is a sham.
Itβs important to know NIH is not following its own guidance. Hereβs why:

The ultimate goal of wellness consumerism is to shift all responsibility to the individual health consumer who then gets the "freedom" of navigating an unregulated snake oil market.
How about porting Linux to Rust?
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. Itβs dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

I have not tested it. I strongly think action=error should be default.
Glad to share our benchmark study in Genome Biology on highly variable gene (HVG) selection methods for single-cell RNA-seq. We show that a hybrid strategy performs best, now implemented in the mixhvg R package. rdcu.be/eUfjt
Gift link, probably the funniest thing the Wall Street Journal has done this year.

I do hope that nobody has been given or denied a job/promotion based on their SpringerNature citation counts in the past 15 years.

Yes, that is weird. I for one would rank NAR above Nature Communications if we just focus on journal name.
Today at #ASHG25 I will talk about the work of a talented graduate student Dev Raj Bhattarai on cell type-specific isoform expression in Alzheimer's disease at the @nanoporetech.com Education Session (12pm Rm 153). Dev will also present his work today at poster 9228T.
Today at #ASHG2025 Adam Davidovich will talk about our work on inheritance of DNA methylation patterns in mice with some interesting biology, including (to our knowledge) the first paramutation naturally occurring in mammals.
Room 210C at 11am.
Iβm at #ashg2025 for a few days. Reach out if you want to chat.
Itβs the time of the year where 98% of my feed will become posts from @michaelhoffman.bsky.social on ASHG

New tool "bwt-svg" for making illustrations of the BWT and the many auxiliary arrays and other structures related to it. Pyodide-based no-installation-necessary interface here: benlangmead.github.io/bwt-svg/. (H/t to @robert.bio for pointing me to pyodide!) Full repo: github.com/benlangmead/....
Looking forward to presenting duoNovo at ASHG this week.
We use long-read sequencing to detect de novo variants without having to sequence both parents. It's conceptually straightforward, and performs very accurately among variants likely to be clinically relevant.

Amazing opportunity for help if you're using RcppArmadillo in a CRAN package.
Thanks for posting. This was an amazing read.
This is an important limitation and something we should absolutely work on solving.
I enjoyed reading the Introduction.
Despite the fact that the cover features neither a dragon, nor a spaceship, I have ordered a copy.
How can we know if it is worth reading without seeing the cover? I hope it has either a dragon or a space ship.
