This is incredible. UK emissions fell 2.4% in 2025 as coal fell to a 400-year low. Incredibly, we used less coal last year than than in 1600, when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne and Shakespeare was writing Hamlet

I'll never understand why people (including many engineers) can't see programming as the creative art that it is.
LLMs generate code the same way they generate images or videos. Bland, mediocre, inelegant remixes of the training data.
Had the best time in the UK over the weekend.
Here's a look at the 2nd Bristol Video Games Expo @bristolvge.bsky.social that I'm sure will grow and grow each year. youtu.be/NpWcovu11_U
Hmm, does this mean all code generated by an LLM is public domain? π€

"Alien Taxi" is a new #homebrew release for the #Dreamcast by @captkuso.bsky.social
Its a simple little arcade game where you have to pickup and transport passengers, ala "Crazy Taxi" but from a perspective like that of the old GTA games.

I continue to be fascinated by the phenomenon whereby an expert engages with any of the LLMs on their field of expertise and is instantly horrified by the wrong answers, and then goes on to use it for things they are not experts in as though it wonβt be just as bad for those.
In honour of the Sunday Telegraph's editor and offical maddest columnist, we have created the Allister Heath headline generator...

I think my biggest pet peeve with modern software/apps is that no one seems to give a shit about clickable things staying put while other elements are loading around them, such that I mis-click way too often because I reacted too fast anticipating where the button is going to be - until it's not π€¬
i built an entire x86 CPU emulator in CSS (no javascript)
you can write programs in C, compile them to x86 machine code with GCC, and run them inside CSS

I was disappointed to read Cory Doctorow's post where he got weirdly defensive about his LLM use and started arguing with an imaginary foe.
@tante.cc has a very thoughtful reply here:

My city #gameassets already has suburban, commercial and industrial buildings. However, I know you've been asking for more 'special' buildings like windmills, schools, a hospital and more. What buildings would you like to see?

Two builds of #MarioKart 64 running on the #Sega #Dreamcast. Top is release using our stock GLdc driver for graphics. The bottom is an experimental build I have optimized with my accelerated math library, SH4ZAM. Community gainz are coming!

In today's episode of AI is ruining the thing you love; Godot could really use some extra funding just to judge if something is slop because they're getting overwhelmed
Godot's GitHub has increasingly many pull requests generated by LLMs and it's a MASSIVE time waster for reviewers β especially if people don't disclose it. Changes often make no sense, descriptions are extremely verbose, users don't understand their own changesβ¦ It's a total shitshow. #godotengine
Aaaaand it's finished!
Here are all 10 levels in its full glory.
It may not seem like much but trust me I've been through so many issues and crashes that I was *very* close to giving up.
But now it's in a state where I am happy with the results.

Cartoon. Person says to other person βWe invented a robot that answers questions.β, adding, βwe just have to feed it 10 baby giraffes a dayβ. The other person asks βBut it answers the questions correctly?β Person responds βOh my goodness, no. No no no no no.β By Aram J. French Appropriated due to missing alt text
This is actually quite brilliant, up to and including the final sentence π₯
You know the animated character faces next to the messages in games like Star Fox?
Or maybe a variety of distinctive buildings for your City kits (churches, schools, libraries, fire stations, shops etc.)
More retro texture packs obviously.
Animated animal/dinosaur pack?

I've seen some similar projects, but IMO this seems to better capture some of the fine-grained detail
I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.
Vibe coding is working as expected: it'll kill the open-source, secure, and ideologically maintained alternatives to make sure you have to pay the oligarchs to do anything at all, and they can control what you're allowed to make.
