Heβs just too rich a character. every generation gets to peel back a layer
LOVE ETERNAL was basically content-complete five years ago (porting and localization took a really long time). So for the intended experience, just imagine itβs 2020 while playing
someone kindly modded LOVE ETERNAL to be much easier, if that speaks to you
Every time I figure out what LOVE ETERNAL requires me to do in a room I laugh and scream. Beating a room makes me cheer. It's definitely horror because it's doing things to my body that make me uncomfortable, anxious, and I get relief to make it through at all. Wonder what it's about
a promo image for the game LOVE ETERNAL, featuring a grey sky with a massive statue rising out of an ocean. atop its head sits a statue of a castle, and the entire subject is covered in a net.
Today I played Love Eternal. Fantastic. Hardass, but fantastic. To say more than that would be to give the game away, and it's the kind of story you should experience blind if you can. Easily one of my favorites of the year! It uses the medium to its fullest, which is a rarity in video games.
Movie poster for the Lucrecia Martel film Zama, featuring a colonial bureaucrat and cutlass collaged disjointedly above a palm tree
Shot from the film, featuring horsemen in an open field with palm trees
If youβve never seen Zama, itβs probably the closest weβll ever get to a Gene Wolfe film adaptation
Lucrecia Martelβs Shadow of the Torturer
Love Eternal is difficult to recommend for everyone, but if you love tough-as-nails precision platforming, then this one is very, very special, and you get the added bonus of an original and intriguing story that goes in a direction you would not expect. I'll be thinking about it for a long time.
Totally amazing new music

This game looks fucking incredible. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRQQ...
Amazing to hear these guys talking HyperCard Manhole
stay the course
I hit credits in Love Eternal a few days ago. If you enjoyed Celeste or VVVVVV, and like the idea of a psychological horror platformer, I think youβll have a good time. Does some cool structural stuff in the final act! youtu.be/HfZTnvijS74?...
@vickyacab.bsky.social I would love to be able to quote-repost about your book!
Hey Im really bad at self-promoting but The Extended Universe is out in a month and a half and if you havent pre-ordered it yet and want to support my work this is a really good way to do it!
Screenshot showing a 2D sidescrolling pixel game. A woman wearing a pink jumpsuit and shock of white hair stands before the ruined bones of a derelict building. In the gloomy distance, we can make out rocky walls and a crumpled iron fence. It's as though the house were trapped underground in a huge cavern, gated against trespassers...or escape.
So, Love Eternal is really good. Like, REAAAAALLY good.
Also runs like a dream on NSW1, which is a nice bonus.
LOVE ETERNAL is excellent. Knytt Stories if it was angry at you for playing it. Dungeon Experience is probably gonna be fighting with it for funniest game of the year
Wowwowowowowow just rolled credits on Love Eternal. What a game. Please go check it out without looking into it too much. It's really special.
Just finished playing Love Eternal. It's more than just a well made precision platformer. I'm not good at these games, but I happily stuck with it because of the unconventional storytelling that uses games as materials to tell an experimental narrative. I enjoyed it a lot. Very evocative atmosphere.
Love Eternal has reflections on love that are as brutal as its platforming. Both in structure and content, the game faces players with the fact that love, no matter what, will hurt and often destroy you in the end. Latest at Exalclaw:

Thanks so much Chris, what a nice way to put it.
I finally wrapped back around to finishing Love Eternal.
Play Love Eternal. It's so good.
when I have a second Iβm gonna try and do a longer post about the making of this trailerβ¦ we worked on it off and on for about 2 years (!)
Thanks so much, haha
I did!
Love Eternal is one of the best games of the year. We talk about it here for awhile.
