Yessss! It’s absolutely amazing, and you’re going to LOVE it! Very definitely hoping to be there too :)
some bits of wisdom from tunglr
I mean, yes, but like also: Apparently every other group under the sun too.
comic: when it happens I hope people ring bells and blow horns. if I'm asleep I hope to be woken. I won't mind. if I'm in traffic I hope to see revelers. If it causes a traffic jam I won't mind. I don't want to exist a moment not knowing that it has happened.
Lil' comic about hope and longing 💗
I’ve been on the internet for 30+ year now. I don’t know how on Earth I hadn’t guessed this already.
I’m drawing a book full of anthropomorphic animals, so ended up looking up Zootropolis on the internet, and hoooooooo boy, lemme tell you it turns out that film certainly has its fans.
I really wish that we could’ve at least had a decent roaring 20’s before the world went to hell in a handcart.
‘You are not at the table, you are on the menu’ is 100% going to be the title or header quote of the introduction to the book about what is coming next.
We're excited to reveal Thought Bubble's 20th festival image, drawn by the amazing Núria Tamarit. Thank you so much Núria!
Check back tomorrow when we'll be announcing our 2026 dates and opening our exhibitor applications!
Nerina Pallot’s ‘Eveybody’s Gone To War’ just randomly popped up in my song queue, and:
A. It’s a good song
B. I think even my algorithm might be having an existential crisis at this point
I'm sure you've all seen it by now but if you haven't this is the perfect antidote to everything right now.

Oh, seriously - it is *amazing*. Absolute Martian Manhunter & Absolute Wonder Woman are gold standard cape comics. And Absolute Batman is also gloriously stupid fun. The rest of the Absolute line is very meh, but those 3 are fantastic.
Everyone really should read Absolute Martian Manhunter.
There’s one thing that bugs me about the GRRM thing - the discussions about his health/lifespan/fan entitlement are all incredibly gross & insensitive - however he’s explicitly talked about leaving a legacy like Tolkien’s. But, if he genuinely does want that, there’s only one way to achieve that.
Again: Not complaining at all here, and I can’t say thank you enough to all the people who’ve loaned my books & the libraries who support it. It’s been a financially brutal year in our house, and it’s incredibly welcome. Just wonder if there’s a way to use PLR to address wider issues.
The issue that raises, to me, is that the money is more needed at the lower earning end of publishing - with average author earnings being in the gutter. Is there a more useful way to weight/target this income?
However my question about the system is this: As you get to that top end of £6,600, surely the less you need that money? It implies you’re either heavily borrowed or prolific, both of which indicates that your income from publishing is likely pretty high*, & you’re less reliant on stuff like PLR.
I’ll do full disclosure here - I’ve earned £3,216 for 2024-2025, off the back of 4 Bumble & Snug books (the fifth book came out just after calculation period closed out). I am absolutely not complaining at all here, and god knows the money is very welcome.
Just got my PLR statement through, which is lovely, however - & I maybe massively wrong here - it feels like a bit of a weird system that doesn’t really target the people who need it?
For context: PLR is the payment artists & writers get per library loan. The maximum you can earn from it is £6,600.
To be fair, a book about the Roman Empire is pretty well timed.
Currently incredibly stressed due to the workload of making comics, so I’m going to treat myself to an hour off later tonight, where I plan to try and unwind by reading comics, and why does my brain hate me like this?
Hope
Assortment of Monster in My Pocket figurines
A Monster in My Pocket relaunch could fix me.
Oh god, I was just looking at them on eBay last week, thinking ‘I really can’t start collecting anything else, buuuuuuut…’

It’s SO good - I basically buy anything with Samnee’s name on it nowadays, his art is wonderful.
Genuinely wondering if this is some sort of kink at this point.
Genuinely thought that there was nothing left to shock me about that site, but holy hell.
