Steam and most other api based logins use the same industry standard authentication. You send credentials and receive two tokens, one for access and one for refreshing the access token.

Click link, it asks "do you want to give xyzBadThing69uwu access to: bla bla, send messages, bla" and they press yes for whatever reason. That's all
