Bottom right picture immediately made me think of Brasilia #architecture
Looking at the variations of # 24, while the A is on top w/ initial overlap, thickness of the U makes it look like University of Auburn. IMO it looks backwards so I reversed it and also made the type weight thinner. Not perfect but feels better

boosting good stuff today, been following the saga of Porkchop for a long time and really happy to see her released back into the wild after a year of recovery from a flipper amputation
Yes to African history through the lens of space, exploration, sports etc
More good art here as well
I've mentioned this elsewhere, but fun to see how many ISU folks promote Jack Trice's legacy while dismantling DEI. Jack literally wrote that he was playing for his family, self, and race. Honestly I have no idea if the whole Jack Trice Stadium name movement would happen today which is insane to say
Love this picture. WSU has more of Matsura's stuff:

part of me is waiting for the state of Iowa to consider Jack Trice's story DEI and strip his name from the ISU football stadium
A while ago I asked @mattbrown.bsky.social if he had info on whether schools could unilaterally remove implicated donor names from athletic buildings like Wexner at OSU
David at @foiaball.com chimed in, looked into it and wrote this great explainer for his new site
thanks so much for sharing his work, absolutely no idea how I've never heard of him before it's right up my alley
This post is how I realized I have a sincere resentment for what this industry has done to the β¨ emoji
Chapter 1 of Moby Dick, page 1 The phrase βCall me Ishmaelβ, the first sentence of the book, is highlighted in blue, with careful highlighting on the very big C at the start. Above this, written in ballpoint pen βHis nameβ
Love the glimpse into the beautiful mind that notated this used copy of Moby Dick I got
oommmgggggg, love brutalist stuff, there's more pics in the thread
Spam acct blocked my correction, so reposting. This 820 yr old tree lives in the Kamenice nad Lipou Castle garden. Think lightning damage damaged the majority of canopy, so it started growing sideways

I played the world's first Tetris built into the cover of a magazine.
Paper and glue. Flexible circuits. USB-C recharging!
Haven't been able to see many ISU games this year, but I would've been shocked if they beat BYU. Always felt this year's team had a better chance of making it past the S16 vs winning the B12 (and no, the conference tourny doesn't count) #bluecy
Guys being Dudes
Big Citrus appearance. He will be at the Combine next week #bluecy
Mesmerizing. Reminded me of this story
Great time waster. Can also make your own levels
My archivist heart dies every time my research ends w/ the relevation that the local newspaper morgue was purposefully destroyed for a stupid reason, so this is a nice change. I hope they can get full rights
Seems like a good time to mention the Bokkja i bakken (The Dog on the Hill) statue at the Holmenkollen Ski jump in Oslo - created by Elene Engelsen to celebrate the fact that the escape of a dog onto the jump happened so often it almost became tradition (photo (c) me from a trip last July)
Never heard of this game, it's quite something.
Contra + football + pinball + gold watches + pianos + vampires? Yes.

Also equally infuriating to me. Senior writer used AI to generate (fake!) quotes from a simple blog post, instead of well, you know, reading the post which was only 1500 words.
Writing is thinking. Using AI for headlines, outlines, grammar, etc also has fun scientific side effect: cognitive decline
Can't stop thinking about this quote from yesterday:
"By removing writing from reportersβ workloads"
I like drawing trees.
The popcorn machine fire caused a bit of a delay
This was really good! Gonna have to pick up his book soon
