A smarter league would know how to leverage the wild popularity of heated rivalry into a game-changing boost in attention. But alas, NHL gonna NHL.

As far as the travel time to get to ORD, there's no way to ever get it to justify the cost speeding it up by ridership numbers. The travel time to the blue line, even from most downtown areas, make it vastly slower than taking a cab, except in rush hour situations. It really is good enough now
Would love to see some of these "safety and mobility concerns" that ald dowells office received. π
Please ask ald dowell to produce evidence that people have expressed safety and mobility concerns (except that the removal of the new infrastructure reduces safety). Also, please ask the fire/police department if the new construction causes them response issues.
agreed, but the elimination of parking minimums will be a meaningful step that direction.
My latest is a love letter to Chicago. "I see you stumbling through the stubborn, awkward rhythm of showing up, again and again. I see you fighting alongside people who sometimes frustrate and confuse you, and defending neighbors you may have never met, because you know theyβre all your people."
Am I right, generally, that bars to the left is bad and bars to the right is good? The legend at the bottom makes it confusing
I thought Greene played really well and how is TT's defensive score that bad? I thought he played a strong defensive game.
Unless I'm reading it incorrectly, I've really come to question whatever methodology they're using for the game score. So often I look at it and it doesn't pass the eye test. I thought Bedard played better than the score would suggest.
I bike as my main mode. I generally agree, bikes on streets. This is mostly because US sidewalks are super narrow and our streets too wide. If we prioritized people and had better sidewalks, I'd be more open to bikes wherever
If this was CPS, the tribune editorial board would be writing op-eds on how the CTU needs to be forcibly disbanded.
The paused construction is actually incredibly unsafe and they need to finish the project. If it was just about the shape of a few islands, you can modify those in the spring. They need to install the bollards to get cars to stop parking in the new bike lanes.
I emailed ald dowell and got a BS response which is basically code for "drivers complained". It ain't like bikers were complaining that you were making 18th TOO safe.
I live one block away from this intersection and my kids and I bike it every morning to get to school. I was so happy to see wabash and 18th improved and am so ticked that it's being paused.
Hyper local weird sign... I cannot walk past this intersection (st claire & ohio) without wondering how the soldier field sign got here. Sure, you can turn down fairbanks and eventually make it there, but there aren't any other signs on ohio telling you how to get to soldier field.
I'm curious if there was much opposition to people over parking and who? I tried googling around and couldn't really find anything.
Out of curiosity, where do you consider the South side as beginning?
Is there not a toll booth on 190? I usually blue line or cab so struggling to remember.
Bummer... given that so many schools were built pre-Gurba v. Community High School District No. 155, it just forces school districts to negotiate with local municipalities to try to not pave over their land for parking. Luckily, most muni's are pretty cooperative in this area, but not all.
Would a school be considered a public transit hub due to it being a terminus for school buses? This would have huge implications for schools across the chicago area.
Great!! Wasn't sure if there was some home-rule "this only applies to transit agency owned property" carve out. Simply awesome news!
I wonder how many planning departments now propose text amendments to bring local ordinances into alignment with state law.
So this supersedes local ordinances?
We saved transit.
Does this supersede local ordinances?
No one believes less in the year-round use of the parks less than the chicago park district. 500+ people at Promontory Point yesterday enjoying unmatched skyline views and campfires, a truly unique Chicago offering... and not an open public bathroom within miles.
If I were a billionaire, I wouldn't be one for very long; that money would fly out of my account.
Being good at birding is only a function of how much you enjoy it!
Knowing how the grid works from Madison to 31st is how you show solidarity with other near South siders.
I'm fine renaming either balbo or columbus Beef Street or better yet, Beef Boulevard (yes, i know columbus isn't technically a boulevard... but it could be!!)
