The best time to stop posting on X was June of 2022. The second best time to stop posting on X is now.

Also I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone use that hashtag, maybe stick to #BelieveInFilm #FilmPhotography #ShittyCameraChallenge

If an artist isn't able to visualise their ideas on paper (or on the screen) without the use of genAI, they are not an artist.

I know some artists who aren't capable of visualising things in their head, yet they can still create stunning art. I know others who brainstorm their ideas and compositions with literal scribbles and stick figures, only to end up with a beautifully rendered piece.

There is absolutely no excuse for a self-respecting artist to use genAI at any point during their process.

Someone over on Instagram saying that genAI is bad for art, but can still be used by artists who have trouble visualising their ideas.

I had to reply.

Hey, by the way, if they end up doing this to any of you, after you've changed your password (if you'd had your account's settings programmed to prohibit unlogged access), you'll also need to go back in & re-select that authentication option.

It's my 3rd AI-related-blocklist...to quote an old soft water commercial that used to air locally in the '80s, "we must be doing something right!"

From clearsky, Donnie's been added to another list! This one created by a real winner named @schizanon.bsky&c., titled "Techno-Pessimists." What, you might ask, is a Techno-pessimist? Well, our friend Schitzanon writes that Techno-pessimists are "Users who have posted hateful things about people who use technologies like AI, Bitcoin, Smart Glasses, NFTs [wow, we're really going back in time here, ain't we?], VR [for the record I was quite impressed with the last VR example I saw--which was a capture of the Great Eclipse several years back, but hey, you go off, Schitzi], Self Driving cars, etc, [sic] or have liked or reposted those posts. Users are added by a script [maybe AI-generated there, Schützi?], [sic] I've probably never looked at your profile so please don't take it personally [no period]". Nothing taken personally here, kiddo--I just hope you're prepared for those of us who told you that AI/Bitcoin/SmartAsses/NFTs/& the like were & are scams to be appropriately INSUFFERABLE toward your ilk after they implode....

Sorry i got distracted! What you did here is so wonderfully rendered I forgot it wasn't illuminated for a cookie-cutter-short-exposure; I think that's what I love the most about your photos--you get the essence of the moment so fully that our eyes have a moment to fully check out the surroundings...

HOOSIER SWEETHEART by Ruth Etting 1927
HOOSIER SWEETHEART by Ruth Etting 1927 YouTube video by cdbpdx

1920s songbird (& Dutch Schultz moll) Ruth Etting ended up being recorded with a Chickering on most of her post-'26 discography (& later married her pianist; here's a state-related-example that sounds better on MY record, but this works to give the resonance...).. youtu.be/HbeDzNqC0-0?...

I'm 65% certain it's a Chickering...the shade of the lacquer & shape of the carvings--Chickering had a more deeply resonant soundboard in the bass-notes, which led to it being the preferred piano for many early electric recording sessions (specifically for Columbia, in NYC)...

Well done! & I believe that baby grand piano's a Chickering, innit?

"I'm afraid to fly,
& I don't know why;
I'm jealous of the people
who are not afraid to die.
It's just that I recall
Back when I was small,
Someone promised that they'd catch me,
And then they let me fall:
And now I'm fallin--
Fallin fast again,
Why do I always take a fall
When I fall in love?"

Are you USB-to-C in that connection? If so, disconnect & flip the C-end that goes into your phone...also check that Storyville hasn't decided to try & chew thru your cable elsewhere

If you ever need another International Harvester patch to supplement coveralls you wear with that particular cap, I have several 1960s-'70s versions...any one of them would easily fit in a postal envelope...

(Why did I think the kid in the white shirt was Gordon Ramsay?) People say "One Night in Bangkok" is the best tune from Benny & Bjorn's musical, but I disagree...20yrs ago I properly learnt "I Know Him So Well" for a Denver friend (his favorite musical tune), but I soon adapted the lyrics to fit me

What that must feel like--to see completely out the tunnel, & have preserved the decades of memories for anyone who might be interested (& is still around to enjoy the images)! I think you're in for real fun when you begin that whittling process--like picking up a photo album off the shelf again...

Every time I see this (either in still/.gif/video format), I remember watching when Kazan got his award--then, the following day in class, as Mr. Beehler schooled seniors who felt it "rude" for folx not to applaud...yrs later I found Orson Welles's perfect characterization: youtu.be/Z6DC4AjTG2M?...
