I really like talking to @raviddice.bsky.social.
Someone should help me design these stickers.

As a part of trying to practice finishing things with some greater regularity, I have been writing posts again.
This one is about "ventilated prose," and why I think it's worth considering as a tool and technique.

I just dropped this 40 minute video essay on YT. I don’t have any presence there so it would mean a lot if you would watch, subscribe, share, etc. Not counting any gameplay, I probably put 40-50 hours into just the editing
A proposal to allow 10 stories has Paul Toner crying ‘Manhattanization’! Bro have you ever been to Manhattan? www.cambridgeday.com/2025/12/09/i...
Pretty good for a Tuesday.
All infrastructure is a compromise, though; these and similar structures can make newer cyclists feel safer, getting them out on the road, and more cyclists out on the road makes it safer for all of us; even though I'm curmudgeonly and want to fight cars, sometimes this is better public policy.
It's not bad if there's no traffic, but during commuting hours it's better to be by the road and take the lane to pass. IMO this also is best for long, uninterrupted stretches, whereas if there are roads to turn on, the extra distance b/t cars and bikes creates more opportunities to not see bikes.
The way I can tell if an app is native or a wrapped webapp is by how fast it drains my phone battery. I know startups need speed and the convenience of a "build once, deploy anywhere" solution, but also, like, some of us are cheap and have phones whose batteries've had a "Service" status for years.
Very important news everyone
This is one of my favorites. That whole album, really (of course, the Tony Rice album, also).
(And for the record, we scare-caps "Harvard Swimming Boys" affectionately. Mostly. A few of them are alright.)
Two Page Tuesday at Charlie's Kitchen in Harvard Square tomorrow! Come join us for the reading at 7(ish) and stay for karaoke until our favorite bartender decides we've had enough and/or the Harvard Swimming Boys take over what remains of the night's queue.
bad time to need lots of healthcare
Thanks to Rock Salt Journal for publishing this story I wrote about a wheelbarrow. No white chickens, but guinea hens.

what a joy, talking to @teoshannon.bsky.social for hours
I love that I couldn’t get into a Boston Book Festival event because it was already at capacity. I cannot describe how much that pleases me.
(I will not say, however, that we "[drink] less because of anxiety"; but maybe we skew more millennial. Or degenerate. Or whatever.)
Yes, Two Page Tuesday doesn't even have an IG but the crowds are good and the work is good, as are the vibes and community. Folks really seem to like to gather together in person for art.
(Also the next one is Oct 14 at The Banshee in DOT if you are local want to come check it out.)

The caps lock key leads only to unnecessary yelling and overambitious SQL and should therefore be removed permanently.
A few years ago there was this thing publishers were doing where they were top-binding certain novels/prose books like a reporter's notebook. Does anybody remember what that was called? Or have any articles about this handy?
A cool thing about cleaning your house is that when you're done the cat will vomit in the living room to make sure you didn't miss that spot.
In that case: for sure! Especially given their different... experiences... in the Olympics MTB and so on.
Also: "Ardennes boy" is maybe my new favorite moniker 😂
Similar trajectories for sure through. But even in the classics it's more of a Holy Week vs Ardennes thing, isn't it? Anyway – fun thing to ponder!
I mean, I'd really defer to your much deeper expertise!! But knee-jerk, yes: MvDP has never carried GC ambitions, whereas Pidcock has (or has had them thrust upon him). So despite the weirdness of the current era (i.e., Pogacar doing everything), they're not comparable, at least on the road, for me.
Sumo oranges and crabapples 🤷🏻♂️
I got tired of pasting the same stupid bio into Submittable so I made a little to-clipboard utility to make that a little faster. Also I needed a new Python project to pin to my GitHub for *reasons*. Please enjoy.
