This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.

– Toni Morrison

We cannot repeat these wise #words by the amazing Toni Morrison enough 🧡

We invite you to use them as an #inspiration and choose not to remain silent in our current times of dread.

What to read to understand the ICE phenomenon. Our friends at Verso have prepared this ultra thorough ABOLISH ICE reading list, featuring a number of excellent titles that can help explain how we got here. Histories of American immigration, or …

A mini syllabus (Including four free books!) for understanding ICE.

Background image - evening, boat in ocean flying Palestinian flag with FFC and TM logos.
Text: EMERGENCY
Israel has attacked the Global Sumud Flotilla. Unarmed people of conscience, abducted in international waters. This is piracy. This is kidnapping.

The flotilla did not break any laws. What is unlawufl is genocide, the deadly blockade of Gaza, the use of starvation as a weapon of war, and the piracy of civilians vessels and abduction of all those on board.

Stand with us to break the siege and hold governments and institutions accountable for enabling Israel's crimes.

“One of poetry's great effects, through its emphasis upon feeling, association, music and image – things we recognize and respond to even before we understand why – is to guide us toward the part of ourselves so deeply buried that it borders upon the collective.”

I’ve learned traveling full time means leaving parts of myself all over the country. I scatter them to the wind and road and subway; I give pieces to new cities, offer bites to strangers in coffee shops, bury thoughts on public land, tuck them beneath park benches. I leave drips of tahini on New York sidewalks and footprints on Outer Banks sand and tiny heartstrings everywhere Sean has held my hand.
