Ultimately, exploring a CRPG NPC is limited by a script, & hence, passive.
CRPGs don't demand a cross-question. An CNPC has a limited ability to "talk back". There is a sense safety in that.

All I want for christmass is the rumor for oblivion remake to be true, because its a pain to run it in modern hardware well.
