Can't wait to tear this down Berlin Wall-style

I truly do think all of the "Noem out, Mullin in" posts and stories are failing American democracy right now!

Trump is announcing his nominee.

That's it.

If the Senate majority wants to confirm him, they're a part of thisβ€”even after knowing what they know now.

And that matters come November.

Not gonna share the video of Republican US Senator Tim Sheehy breaking a protesting Marine's hand, but you can find it on @charlotteclymer.bsky.social's timeline.

I'll just say that in a functional country, Sheehy would be expelled by the Senate.

Democratic Senators should publicly push for that.

Why are so many people acting like any of this is normal?

2 hours of voting ballots are being held and probably won’t be counted.

People literally had their right to cast their vote taken away and alleged democrats are taking victory laps because Black Voters were disenfranchised?

A screenshot of the Polymarket website showing a prediction market titled "Nuclear weapon detonation by...?" under the Geopolitics and Ukraine categories. The market displays three betting options with their current probabilities and "Buy Yes" or "Buy No" prices: "March 31" at 5%, "June 30" at 12%, and "Before 2027" at 22%. The total trading volume shown is over $843,000.

Polymarket has created a betting market on the use of nuclear weapons. Everyone involved in this should be put in prison for life.

GW sold Virginia campus for $427 million to Amazon for data center development The deal transfers all of GW’s roughly 122 acres of property in Loudoun County, Virginia, to ADS for $427,299,350 β€” roughly $3.5 million an acre β€” according to real estate records.

That story broken is here, and people should be outraged at what it's reporting. 2/

This statement is appallingly bad--like, the administration *illegally bombed a school.* It's mind-boggling to me for this to be the reaction from a human, much less a purported leader of the Democratic Party. I need a new senator stat

Last month, University of Wisconsin-Madison Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin approved a proposal to establish a College of Computing and Artificial Intelligence funded by private corporations and philanthropy.
Mnookin said the move was a response to the inevitable creep of artificial intelligence into all disciplines of academia. Rather than reject AI, she envisioned a university that capitalized on this change by making artificial intelligence a "hub" connecting the humanities to computer science.

On the first day of my economics elective this spring, my professor said we would be expected to use NotebookLM to pass his class. He had lengthened the coding assignments so that they would be doable only with the help of AI. The reading assignments were longer, too: ten 40-page papers per week, which he asked us to feed into AI for a summary rather than read ourselves. When it came to lectures, he told us to simply upload the slides to AI and ask it to teach us whatever he failed to explain properly in class.

BLEAK. Bleak. I’d been paying attention to Columbia selling out its governance to the Trump admin, not so much its stance on AI.

I wasn't taught this way at all. Or at least, that’s not how I received what I was taught.

I was taught the Court is and always has been political and except for 20ish years in the mid-1900s was a tool for entrenching conservative power.

The descendants of slaves owned by Andrew Tarbutton are now fighting against a railroad company owned by his family to keep a farm that has been in their family for 100 years.

Tarbutton Hall is also the home of Emory’s political science and sociology departments.

Mayor Mamdani Breaks His Promise to NYC Public Libraries The Struggle Against Defunding Libraries Continues...

I hope New Yorkers will challenge Mamdani about this. Too often, people feel they need to be absolutely for or against a politician β€” ignoring their missteps or throwing them out with the bathwater. You can like and/or believe in someone and still challenge them to deliver on their promises.

Nearly half of L.A. County’s pavement may be unnecessary, new map finds Researchers have released the first parcel-level analysis to map all paved surfaces across L.A. County. In particular, large parking lots are ripe for change, they say.

A new report, DepaveLA, finds that 44% of Los Angeles County’s 312k acres of pavement may not be essential for roads, sidewalks and parking, and could be converted to greener cooler cover and habitat.

Just a reminder that the UC system was not a party in this litigation. Faculty, staff and the @aaup.org fought on their own. UCLA, and the entire UC system, should be ashamed of themselves, and their leaders should be reminded of their submissives every day.

Cmon now guys. If any Dem says anything besides shut down until this is all gone then there's no need for federal government at all. These are concentration camps. If you're too scared to say so then you're part of the problem.

A tiny, timeless reminder of everyday life in the ancient world.

Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas continues push against ICE detention facility in city Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas continued his push Wednesday to turn back plans for an ICE detention facility in his city.

β€œWhat they’re talking about is a facility between 5,000 to 10,000 humans who will be warehoused in something that was built as an Amazon distribution facility … And the attractiveness of the site is because it’s next to railroads. I don’t like big encampments next to train tracks and all of that.”

One City Streamlined. The Other Stalled. San Diego’s Housing Boom vs Los Angeles’ Post-Fire Bust

This right here is one of my great pet peeves: THERE WERE NOT ONLY ONE GROUP OF FOUNDERS. The Reconstruction Founders led a massive, important constitutional change, and we don’t need to look at English common law to understand what equality, citizenship, and freedom meant. WE WERE OUR OWN NATION.
