Comic. [Person 1 talking to a person with shoulder-length hair and a person with a white hat.] PERSON 1: I would never get an electric vehicle. Sure, they sound great, but what do you do if the battery runs out of charge? [caption] I felt pretty silly when someone finally explained tome that EVs are rechargeable.

Activities vs Impact.
Productivity is measured against activities. You can generate a lot of code, in a short amount of time, for a new feature nobody uses. You'd still be highly productive.
You can highlight an existing feature in an ad campaign and grow revenue by 30%. Now you've made an impact.

Here are some notes on the current state of Chatto, and the nature of the development instance in particular.

A Chatto message from me, hmans. "I've deployed v0.0.33! - lots of small UI tweaks, especially to make the damn thing usable on mobile (please give it a try!) - first iteration of the mention/notification system. You can mention users through @hmans etc., there's no UI for name lookup/completion yet. More stuff around notifications coming soon. - more performance optimizations around the frontend bundles. Enjoy!"
Starting to dogfood Chatto to post Chatto updates \o/
Chatto message from me. "Chatto v0.0.35! (Hit Reload if you don't get it automatically) - cursor up to edit your last message - cute little "send" button to the right of the input box - frontend assets are now being served brotli- and gzip-compressed if your browser supports it - hovering over an emoji reaction now shows you who posted the reaction - future updates should update your frontend automatically as soon as your client tries to reconnect the websocket"

But out of all things bad about AI, to blame open source maintainers is a new kind of evil.
There is a whole canyon between obviously bad AI slop and assisted tooling to get the maintenance done thats needed.
As with every tool developers use assisted coding AI is a sharp knife that needs to be used wisely.
This makes me very sad. Open Source maintenance is already a huge personal burden. Now maintainers will be pilloried for daring to use help of AI to maintain the tools they use?
This is the new: "Fix it for me"
Oh Yeah. Or a list of people who just opens an issue complaining it does not for them and demand fixes.
Theyβve got Twitter up on the big screens in Trumpβs Mar-a-Lago makeshift βsituation room.β

I can see the prompts now. "Please stop this DDoS attack and recover our customer's stolen data"
We will either end fossil fuel dependency and the predatory extractivist basis of global production, or they will end us through wars and ecological collapse - all at the same time.
