This is my thought about a lot of gen AI applications.
You let ChatGPT write your wedding vows? Your college essay? Your job application?
You clearly don't actually want to get married / graduated / hired. Have you considered maybe trying to find happiness somewhere else?
There's only 25 days left to raise the money needed to Save Leicestershireβs Bronze Age Torc - please donate if you can. Keeping objects like that in small regional museums is vital for community heritage.

Please support the petition against the planned #closure of #Archaeology at the Humboldt-UniversitΓ€t zu Berlin.
Archaeology has been a part of Humboldt-UniversitΓ€t academic tradition for almost 200 years, so closing it would break a long-standing research tradition

Love the Cerberus! π
I am very familiar with these days. π Sometimes I give tasks in my to do list a half-done colour score to make me feel better.
Only watched the first episode so far, but this is an absolute gem.
Dear lord, are they for real?? This is so depressing
Please donate if you can. Lest keep these objects in museums where everyone can enjoy them and learn from them
This is an important find. Please help if you can.

If you can, please help a Bronze Age gold torc find its way into a local museum for the enjoyment of everyone rather than ending up at the hands of private collectors

I 'read' it like someone walking through a keyhole towards the light, funny how we 'see' different things π
Withnail and I - of course, silly autocorrect!
For fans of walking and classic cinema, check out the new episode from Film Footprints on "Withail and I'. Film trivia, lovely countryside, and naughty dog action aplenty.

"Epistemological pollution" is the best description I've read of the consequences of this phenomenon.

A bit of FREE ancient Greek learning does wonders for disrupting doom scrolling
And rounding off with our book reviews, we hear about recent publications relating to Minoan zoomorphic culture, and the archaeology of Roman Portugal in its western Mediterranean context:

What this prune desperately wants to say is βpeople who are not whiteβ. And as this interview clip demonstrates, any amount of data from credible sources wonβt be able to shift this depth of very British racism. Because ideology over truth, right?
The move in recent years for a number of UK universities to do this is disgusting and unjust. Sheffield management isnβt alone, but they are a disgrace. Only a leadership team that has utter contempt for their staff & doesnβt care a jot about ongoing relations and morale would do this.
Screenshot of email that reads: βThis status will remain in place until the University receives notification that you are no longer participating in that action. During this period, any work undertaken will be regarded as voluntary.β
Well thatβs me locked out. No pay for the foreseeable future, all because I refuse to reschedule lost teaching, for which I have already lost pay as part of the strike. Please donate to support @sheffielducu.bsky.social members like me at www.gofundme.com/f/heubvb-sup...
Threads post from Channel 4: @channel4 Because we did not win the BAFTA for best TV channel ever we have decided to try and claim ITV as ours.
Not for the first time, it looks like Channel 4 just handed the keys to their socials to an evil genius:
So, if you are an @archaeologyeaa.bsky.social (EAA) member from 2025-2026, you received yesterday your email for the per-rollam vote of the past Special Meeting and the documentation attached to it⦠if you still doubt what to vote, please read all the documents. My short digest:
This is your reminder that Hungarian-Jewish scientist George de Hevesy dissolved two Nobel Prizes in aqua regia to keep them out of the hands of the Nazis.
He then left the dissolved solution on his shelf and fled to Sweden.
(After the war he un-dissolved the gold and the prizes were re-cast.)
I am very sorry to hear this Kayt. This is really disturbing behaviour and more so in conjunction with the complete lack of transparency and communication from the board. Solidarity.
