A post on Twitter reminds people of something many have forgotten: When the Great East Japan Earthquake happened 15 years ago, LINE - now Japan's most popular messaging app with 100M users - didn't exist. It was actually developed in response to the disaster.

Haven't read this whole thing yet but god do I miss DA. I was on there for more than a decade and made some of my best friends there. The loss of that website and the degrading of art into more disposable social media content (not to mention AI fodder) has done so much damage to online artists

My social life is as dead as the local graveyard is.

There are "perfect" games I find utterly soulless and unplayable.

There's "heretically bad" games I cannot stop playing.

To understand art or a medium better, you have to have a range of experiences to fall back to. Otherwise you're just looking for what others tell you to look at.

There's this growing "need" to "only watch what people think is perfect" or that if it's under some made up number on a scale that has no objectivity in it, it should be ignored and all who was responsible for it should burn in [insert hell here], and I really hate it.

"Why did you like this movie? It's bad!"

It's funny when they put this onto B movies as that's quite often the point, or that they didn't have the time nor budget to be cookie cutter number 3443, or so on.

And that's not going into "opinions aren't facts", either.

It's so beautiful, here in the snow. The perfect place to bleed out...
