We remain remarkably, dangerously ignorant of such histories, treating every event as if it came out of the blue. Again and again our governments wade in, with their bombs and missiles and special forces, and congratulate themselves on their strategic brilliance, only to create further crisis.
Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war.

I do think one fundamental principle that all Green and Labour folks can come together on after this rather bruising election battle is: hahahahahha Matt you loser, go away.

I was always told that one of the central lessons of the Shoah is that legal, juridical regimes can still be immoral. The claim that Anne Frank was in Amsterdam "legally" is false, but more than that, the question "Was Anne Frank an illegal?" is so grossly missing the point of Holocaust remembrance.
Einiges, was hierzulande automatisch als Vergleich abgetan wird, ist vielleicht eher als erweckte Assoziation zu verstehen. Und Assoziationen zu regulieren ist ein ziemlich aussichtsloses - bzw. totalitäres – Unterfangen.
Sich jeden Vergleich zu verbitten ist halt genauso ahistorisch wie permanent Kontinuitäten herzustellen
