Hey. Hi. Hello.
In the latest HFX By Bike. I take you on a tour of the Mount Hope Greenway in Woodside.
youtu.be/5iVJ5LTW9NE?...
Does anyone have an update on the status of this?
βBecause cycling enabled me to connect to the disability community, my understanding of transportation needs is broader, and I use this knowledge to be a better advocate for transportation infrastructure that better meets everyoneβs needs.β Via @bikehfxlobby.bsky.social
βbetter than the usβ once again a bad metric for canada to judge itself against
I was wrong. The Canadian government actually has released the raw results from their survey on AI. Scroll through the 11,400 public responses here:

That's my councillor.
Imagine this was your city.
I'm not posting videos for a couple more days.
Things have been a bit worse than I've shared publicly (I'm ok!) so I'm trying to give myself time. I'm also chipping away at a reaction piece that I'll likely publish in a few days.
I'll still be doing my usual livestream tomorrow. :)
Thanks all!!

"I donβt know the moment it happened; it mustβve been a slow realization. βMy bike is my mobility aidβ." Great article from @bikehfxlobby.bsky.social published In Active Travel Studies activetravelstudies.org/article/id/1...
The first three door low floor bus in Canada. . . . ever?

I would be surprised if this is why. They are going with a very similar design for the Woodland roundabout. It feels like a massive design issue in spite of, from what I understand, city staff was trying to get away from building slip lanes given how dangerous they are. Though this was years ago.
All good except for the slip lane.
Fatal crashes have happened across HRM β urban, suburban, rural. This isnβt a downtown issue. Itβs a community safety issue. Every district deserves safer streets. Everyone deserves #VisionZero as a default
βProviding the homeless with a place to live may seem like a high taxpayer cost. But the alternative, it turns out, is more costly, research shows. Subsidized accommodation could actually be a bargain for the public, in purely economic terms.β

Also, please support @rachelgilmore.bsky.social. Especially after recent events with white nationalists she had to deal with. She does awesome investigative journalism and her interviews are pretty great.
Will the TTC instal modern dual point switches? Or will we keep doing things the century old way?
The idea that imperfect victims arenβt worth defending is much bigger than me, and is something I had to speak out about.
What kind of world does it create when only some of us are deemed worthy of institutional support and safety?
The journalism @rachelgilmore.bsky.social does is so important and we should have her back.
ββ¦disabled people are actually less likely to drive than nondisabled people and more likely to get around by walking and rolling and taking transit. Car-heavy cities are also disproportionately dangerous for disabled folksβ¦ββ @nondriver.bsky.social
Donβt use accessibility βas a political football.β
There is some sort of 2026ness
that Women's Day is only 23 hours long this year
Did you know that (at least part of) Canada responded to a gas crisis by large-scale mode shift to mass transit? It's true!
After Via Rail took over operation of the "Dayliner", it became a very popular way to get to Halifax from the Annapolis Valley!

Anyway, extremely grateful for the individual journalists who have reached out, the Tyee which has been immensely supportive, and all of you guys β€οΈ
Iβm just a bit sad the broader institutions meant to defend press freedom in this country rarely seem to care about far-right attacks on journalism.
I will also say that itβs a bit wild to me that no press freedom organization or professional journalistic association has tried to contact me or even put out a statement here.
I mean Jesus Christ. A little solidarity from institutions would be nice here!
Oh no.... They were always busy whenever I went. It's a surprise.
The Alberta Utilities Commission has rejected a proposal for a massive rural data centre that would have consumed as much power as the city of Edmonton. It cited missing information and a lack of public consultation. thenarwhal.ca/olds-data-ce...
Just a reminder to follow actual independent journalism like @signalhfx.bsky.social, @thenarwhal.ca, @grandparade.bsky.social, and @halifaxexaminer.ca. Just a start.
