Framing VAWG as a migrant threat is misleading
Most perpetrators known to victims not strangers or migrants. Scapegoating fuels xenophobia leaves migrant women more vulnerable. Resources must go to prevention, survivor support accountability not border control.

Dame Jocelyn Barrow was a pioneering educator, activist, and media reformer who championed racial equality in Britain. She broke barriers as the first Black woman governor of the BBC and helped shape inclusive education and broadcasting standards. #BlackHistoryMonth
Tarana Burke is the founder of the Me Too movement and a lifelong advocate for survivors of sexual violence. Since 2006, she’s worked to uplift Black women and girls, build healing communities, and drive systemic change. #BlackHistoryMonth
Diane Abbott MP
In 1987, Diane Abbott became the first Black woman elected to the UK Parliament, representing Hackney North and Stoke Newington. A Cambridge-educated former civil servant and journalist, she’s spent decades championing racial justice, civil liberties, and social equality. #BHM
✨ Maya Angelou (1928–2014) was a poet, memoirist, and civil rights icon whose words continue to uplift and empower. From I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings to Still I Rise, she gave voice to resilience, dignity, and hope. #BlackHistoryMonth

As a Black woman in a segregated America, she shattered barriers in STEM and proved that brilliance knows no bounds.
