The frustrating thing is that there's no democratic, humanitarian superpower to root for. The closest thing is Europe. China wants to conquer Taiwan, America wants to conquer oil where it can find it, and Russia wants to conquer Eastern Europe.

World War Three appears to be a bunch of nations, using the tools of mass communication and independent press vulnerabilities, to trick democracies into supporting autocrats who now just feel empowered to bomb who they want.

World War Two was in the wake of economic collapse and the radical styles of government that rose in response. It was an existential struggle between democracies and fascists. Out of ignorance, we invented nukes and pretended they were sexy for a while.

The thing that upsets me is that World War One was supposed to be a big silly slapfight between nations, but the nations didn't know what slapfights in the industrial era look like, so they did the whole "patria de mori" thing out of ignorance and royal allegiance.

I cannot stop thinking about the $345 billion judgement against Greenpeace.
We have to, essentially, phase out fossil fuels, yet for participating in a years-long fight to block one measly little pipeline, if they can't overturn this on appeal, Greenpeace will be destroyed.
How is this even real?

The "radical liberal" has contempt for republican voters because they enabled everyone's suffering.
And why?
Because it's proper for republicans to do this kind of thing to their own voters if it also disciplines the people they oppose?
That just sucks.
And if that's you, then you suck.
