I’m not enjoying my new Extremely Strong Feelings about the Strait of Hormuz
Maybe there’s and exception! Maybe something I’m not considering. Maybe it’s complicated. Whatever. Maybe though if you have firepower to eliminate civilization you aren’t the little guy and nobody is bullying you and if you feel otherwise you need to rethink why you are so stupid and racist
With nuclear arsenals, US and Israel don’t face existential threats from states like Iran. They get limited blowback from harm they do. If facing a serious threat, they’d kill millions in a half hour without flinching. Thus they cast hostility as defense (of “interests”) or violence work as service
We went to a large Baptist church that Bill Clinton visited whenever he was in Little Rock. I’d find out it was a president day when the metal detectors were set up outside “big church”. My friends and I would be like “ok but if we had a nuclear bomb over in Sunday school they’d never find it!”
When I was a kid, the secret service regularly checked my Bible for weapons a that might threaten the president of the United States
If they push a long narrative, why stop at 50?! What about the 1953 CIA coup, or the 1901 D’Arcy oil concession, or the various British, French, German, and Austrian concessions in the 1850-70s on extracting resources, printing their currency, running banks? The west has taken from them for a while!
The overwhelming majority of Zionists in the world today are Christians who believe the end of the Jews (and Arabs, Iranians) is near, by death, hell, or conversion. It’s not great they have weapons to effectuate that theological fantasy (or is it the other way around?)
Incredible to learn Hamas is in “The Gospel of Jesus Christ”
They said “Sir, you blew up 150 girls at school” I said wow, that’s incredible.
They told me “Sir, we killed 300,000 kids last year when you cut aid”. Wow I said, that’s a beautiful number
40 today. Halfway through, as they say!
I am! One unique thing about me, a Lacanian-Marxist philosophy professor from Arkansas, is that a God’s Not Dead film (Pure Flix fantasy about killing atheist philosophy professors) was filmed not only in my hometown but *on my undergrad campus.*
How many people can say that?!
[largest intellectual property theft in history, integrate with militaries + eco damage to kill civilians in countless ways]
here are some “tools” to dehumanize you so you don’t have to read or think anymore!
The last day of my thirties. Over the decade I finished a PhD, married Deven, had two amazing kids, published three of my books, lived in four states, got two professorships, beat cancer, and a lot of life happened. I did alright! It was good
Love to navigate confused, violent fantasies saturated in infantile moralism, crumbling consciousness, nationalist chauvinism, and theological nihilism. We love it, folks
Also thinking on a conversation with an Israeli, asking what she thought of American evangelicals believing almost all Jews go to hell and massacres in the End Times. She smiled and said “Evangelicals are Israel’s best friend.”
Wrote on it in Parapraxis:

I was in Israel in 2015 when the Iran nuclear agreement was announced. I recall talking to a student who felt certain that deal would let Iran secretly build nukes and wipe out Israel, or lead to war. I wonder if he’s reconsidered or, more likely, anything happening later is retroactive confirmation
Our message to the world is clear: the US is only ever at most four years away from electing whoever is the stupidest pedophile we see on TV, so you better get nukes
What a stupid evil thing for the US and Israel to do. Iran has showed remarkable restraint in recent years and it wont be surprising if their long patience and tolerance for our bullshit is over
3. Should any transgender person be caught driving without a valid license, they could face a class B misdemeanor carrying up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Kansas already requires county jails to house inmates according to sex assigned at birth.

For the morning crowd, amidst ICE terror and Epstein files, I wrote 10 theses on how reactionaries and evangelicals are responding to being ruled by a cabal of conmen, drunks, rapists, pedophiles, and morons

Thanks to @trippfuller.bsky.social for inviting me to get this written down!

"When I say chosenness is white evangelicalism's only doctrine, I do mean they would sooner give up belief in Christ's divinity than the belief they are chosen by God." @taddelay.bsky.social processthis.substack.com/p/not-perfec...
This week @jamellebouie.net had some questions for me about where the US is at now and why the term "concentration camp" might be a useful way to think about the crisis. (He interviewed me eight years ago for Slate on a similar topic. Let's hope we don't end up having the same discussion in 2034.)
But it’s also that classic psychoanalytic disavowal structure of “yes, but even so…”. Sure I’m deserving of hell, but even so I’m the greatest
I was thinking about it recently for an essay/talk I have coming out next week with Tripp. Namely how he can cut foreign aid to kill 14 million people, but what makes more news is when he says he’s going to hell. Theology as the avatar of crude materialism etc
Folk Protestantism: you are saved by having correct thoughts regardless of what you’ve done
[guy who’s killing millions of Black people by withholding foreign aid, key member of global pedophile cabal, etc]: eh well the stuff I’ve done…
