Dark stormy thoughts on writing villains
It’s easy (for me) to make antagonists with less emotional depth than the protagonist. But it’s a lot less interesting for the reader. An antagonists’ depth and complexity are often what drives them to extreme behavior.
Yes, I'm amazed when the writing is a knife fight some mornings, but when I look the next day, I don't see any quality differences between those difficult days and the easy ones. Ie, when the writing's hard, the result is often just as good as when it's easy (for me).
English doesn’t have rules so much as habits it refuses to explain.

New year and my resolution is to make it to the end. Both the year and my book in progress. Book 1 of a three book series has required more outlining than an emo's eyes.
