The Swiss made Lenco has a unique cone and Idler wheel drive and is true variable speed. It can run at any speed betwenn 16 and 80rpm with detents at the four main speeds 162/3 ,331/3, 45 and 78. :)

Lion tried to save a batch of 78's once. They had been stored outside and mould had destroyed the playing surfaces. Only a few were playable. Shellac is mould and insect food..
Lion also has a Lenco L78 turntable, one of a few on the market that is 4speed and can play 78's with the right stylus. :)
