There is something misleading about the inherent assumption that the hypothetical supercomputer is extremely accurate.
I'd naively think that would mean it gets at least 9/10 predictions right.
So, choosing just the mystery box makes sense to me.
If SuperComp is random, then 2 boxes make sense.

Sekiro and Outer Wilds - my top 2 favorite games as well.

I'd recommend CachyOS (with KDE Plasma). KDE Plasma should help you with the transition since it resembles Windows' GUI more or less and has many more features.

I've stopped my distro hopping with Cachy. It is Arch-based, i.e. rolling release. There are boot-level restore options, so not to worry

Gaming distro is usually just that they come pre-packaged with all the gaming related stuff.

Even so, as long as they are not asking you to pay for FOSS, like a certain Z-OS, the marketing is still fine.

Also, Mint doesn't support Wayland well, ergo HDR and VRR won't work. Clearly not for gaming.

Already finished the game, Kojima San. Loved it.

Waiting for Death Stranding 2 to release on Steam so I can play that too.

complaints about FL/OSS software on linux not being "commercial ready" feel so strange to me. if nobody uses the software expecting these standards and help improve it, how would they ever get to that standard? there's no financial influence here. it needs to be home-grown.

Epstein’s economic power among academics was made possible by a capitalist system that makes higher education dependent on the charity economy rather than a public good supported by taxing the rich

I have two issues with it.

1. They chose a browser (Brave) with a shady reputation pre-installed by default. Big Red flag

2.They seem to do deceptive marketing trying to sell their Pro version.
You've to dig a bit to find that the suite of software included in their Pro version is actually FOSS.

I haven't used grub in a while.
But last I used it, I had to use 'grub2' in some parts of that command.

Something like this:

sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

I use KDE plasma on Cachy.

Not sure why it's doing that for you.
Resuming from sleep can be an Nvidia driver config problem?

In any case, if you see system running, but monitor showing nothing on wake,

try Ctrl+Alt+F3 to get to TTY and Ctrl+Alt+F2(or F1) to get back to your GUI environment again.

Been using Cachy for about 6 months now and it has been pretty stable.

Haven't even used my boot-level snapshots even once.

Cachy also has LTS kernel btw, but I never used it either.
But people who need stability can still use it.

Yes, on NVidia, HDR doesn't work in some places.

But, it does seem to work for me in games with 'vk-hdr-layer'.
I typically use this launch command (when this layer is enabled):

PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 DXVK_HDR=1 %command%

Note: 'vk-hdr-layer' should not be used with gamescope.

I think, here, they mean the type of HDMI cable.

If you're using a HDMI 2.1 cable, it should be fine.

Also, if you're on KDE Plasma, go to Display Configuration, turn on Adaptive Sync.

31.01.2026 07:24 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Which controller?
Is this the case only inside of games? Can you otherwise test to see if it works during configuration?
For the first case, If using Steam, try to change Steam Input Settings for that game.
If using other launchers, add a non-steam game and launch through steam.

Same. Highly recommend CachyOS(with KDE plasma).
It's where I stopped my distro hopping.

Yeah, some competitive multiplayer games have that problem.
I mean, games themselves can work. It's just that the anticheat disables Linux support.

I think the onus should be on the devs to allow for server-side solutions instead of kernel-level anticheat that is a potential attack vector.

29.01.2026 22:21 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

It already has.

You can check on ProtonDB for the game you're interested in.

If rated platinum, it will work out of the box.

If gold, some tweaks are needed to run it better.
Usually, these tweaks are just single line launch commands entered in game's properties.

Silver -works, but has issues.

Not really. Only Nobara and Zorin does this.
Firefox is the defacto standard for Linux users, otherwise.

Some distros even go further and try to provide a hardened version of firefox since Mozilla is now trying to bake AI into it.

Disable hibernation, turn off virtual memory and set paging file size to zero.

If this doesn't fix it, then you'll have to use any reputed partition tool to get you back all the remaining free space.

Why I recommend against Brave If you are keen on personal privacy, you might have come across Brave Browser. Brave is a Chromium-based browser that promises to deliver privacy with built-in ad-blocking and content-blocking protect...

I see. Fedora Media Writer should be fine.

If you're trying to dual boot on the same drive, then keep that USB with the Fedora ISO even after install.
This is so that, if your Linux bootloader gets corrupted by Windows, you can use that again to fix it.
Else, it is ideal to use a separate SSD/HDD.

What error message is it?

Have you disabled SecureBoot in BIOS/UEFI?
Which tool are you using to load the ISO on a USB drive?
Have you fully downloaded the ISO file? Compare checksum.
Try getting into Legacy/Basic Graphics mode in the installation if you face any visual problems.
Avoid USB hub.
