Just once (maybe someday😭) I would like to actually storyboard a 1 vs 1 battle. Cause all these group fights where I need to keep the locations and actions of a bunch of characters in mind at all times makes my eyes spin and brain melt.🤯🤮🤕
Agreed on that too!
Yes. Agreed!
Ohh, and 5 is one of the (if not *the*) best Dragon Quest game! So you still have some greatness to play before you’re caught up! 😁
(4 is “meh” imo😅)
Over-all DQ7 falls somewhere right in the middle of my best-to-worst DQ games. (Mind you, they're generally all GOOD) but yea, strange character designs, strange storytelling method, but also fun & good late/end-game content.
Glad I played & now I'm caught up w/ ALL Dragon Quest!
For me (might get some hate for saying this) DQ9 is my *least* favorite in the series. DQ7 did a *better* job at holding the story together despite all the side-stories, but I personally just don't like this trop. The roamers/main story was great & I wish they stuck with that.
...on the other hand, if the game WAS hard the whole time, it would have been what? 200+ hours?
Which brings be to the game`s real problem (for me at least) ... I don't like the "dozens of little side stories" storytelling method. 7 & 9 both did this and I DO NOT like it...
While I can appreciate the game would be TOO LONG if every area was a challenge/grind... the first 80% of the game was TOO EASY. They nuked ALL difficulty (until late-game content) to the point where I felt I was playing a children's game just walking around pressing 1 button.
... It was over-all *FUN* (not something I can say about every RPG I play) and the gameplay and graphics of this reimagined version were great. I'm sad I'm out of DragonQuest games now. 12 can't come fast enough!!!
OK... now those positives being said, I do have some negatives...
Let me rant a bit here about my various thoughts on this game. First, the positive...
VERY unique story. It felt very different from any other DQ game & I appreciate the risk they took in doing that.
The focus was on *exploration* & I was constantly interested it what came next..
I finally finished Dragon Quest VII reimagined! (All post game content, Battle Arena, all mini metals, etc)
And with this, I have played EVERY* (DQ10-online excluded) main Dragon quest games! In short, I loved it! Though, I have a LOT (positive & negative both) to say about it...
Finished watching Ushio & Tora.
I will say, the 1st half of season 2 moved at such breakneck speed it lost a lot of the charm from season 1. BUT it had a GREAT villain, the final battle was spectacular, and it kept that 90's anime charm through the end.
I'm kinda depressed now.😭
New Patreon video is up!
Animators (especially those currently working on, or interesting in working on anime) this is for you. I break down my animation from "The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse" episode 35. check it out here:

Gonna make a new Patreon video tonight. I’ll do another deep dive into an anime sequence I animated in the past. (How I approached the sequence, what kind of corrections I got, etc) Last time was Boruto… this time, I’m still not sure. Any requests?
Don’t think I’ve ever played Pokemon Go so much in a couple days as I did this weekend.
Thanks to that event though I got every remaining mega evolution I didn’t have yet.
Didn’t get any new shiny’s… but did manage to mega-evolve a few I already had.
I had to look up what that was.
Wrestling right?
I mean…. Do they often ask the anime industry to make stuff for them? 😅
They don’t seem like a likely client. 🙃
As I wrap up work on something I’ve been making for a while, I’m getting mentally prepared for what comes next. Which is a handful of exciting projects including FINALLY at long last (for the first time since OP 1066) FULL episode direction on a big title.😁
I won’t let you down.
One interesting thing I noticed is that the old OVA has one story (episode 4) which *isn’t* adapted in the newer TV series… which is kinda cool because it makes the 90’s OVA still something unique and worth watching.
I watched both the OVA & first TV series a while back, but realized I never finished the second season! So I’m rewatching “Ushio and Tora.”
Great series. Even the newer TV version has that 90’s anime vibe I love.
I finished season 1 just now. Can’t wait to finally see the ending!

I HAVE been working on lots of stuff though. There are at least 5 additional projects I’ve already drawn animation for (one of those I drew boards & directed as well)… so while it might still be a while before you see those, I do have lots of work coming out in the future.😁

Next month, for the first time in a while, new animation I drew WILL air on a VERY random series. (Very much looking forward to seeing how that episode turns out)
Also, the Lupin III movie is coming out on Blu-ray soon so folks will finally be able to see that animation too.

General update regarding my animation work:
2025 felt like a slow year because the only animation I drew that was released was my work on the Lupin III movie (which most people haven’t seen yet because it’s only been in theaters) & a few cuts I did on Star Wars Visions.

I do a deep dive into the animation I made for Boruto episode 204. Everything (that I can freely talk about of course) from how I got the job, to how I drew the layouts, to what I needed to fix & change during the cleanup process!

That’s really cool.
Thanks for the info.
I’d personally be happy if after 3199 they have just one or 2 final movies for “Final Yamato” and the series concludes.
Yes. Wrong Yamato. lol.
Question for Yamato fans:
Am I right or wrong in this?—>
The current “Yamato 3199” series is a (very long?) retelling of “Be Forever Yamato” and after this we should expect a Yamato III series followed by “Final Yamato” and that will end it?
Is that probably correct or no?
