I wrote this a while ago, it's not fiction, but thought it was something worth putting down somewhere. Forgive the ML-generated photos, but they're as close to what it's like on a lake in winter in Northern Canada as you can get. jdu.github.io/posts/2024-i...

A quote from Winnie Wefelmeyer, Research Lead at Wellcome. The quote reads: "Mental health is complex and changes over time. Longitudinal data can capture this complexity. We'll support innovative approaches to harnessing this data." A photograph of Winnie shows her smiling at the camera, wearing glasses and a blue shirt.

Our new Mental Health Award is all about longitudinal data.

Mental health conditions are complex, involving many different factors. Longitudinal datasets can help us understand them.

This could be key to transforming early intervention. [1/3]

You might get chain oil dripping off the bar at worst. Scarier is the brake on that saw in front of the top handle. If you used this for real even cutting in a safe position and the chain caught and triggered the saw kicking back, your hand could miss the brake and you'd be eating the bar.

I spent a lot of time in this library as a kid. My mom worked in the municipal building next door, and our primary school was where the grocery store is now behind this building. I'd hang out in the library until she was done work and could take me home.

The hardest working font in Manhattan A story of a 150-year-old font you have never heard of – and one you probably saw earlier today.

The love I have for "ugly" type faces is nuts. Well written article.
