Finished the first playtest and I'm ngl for a demo this is
longer than I expected.
(I still have some other stuff to fix before other testers can get their hands on it)

Been playtesting the game this week now that I have enough content for a demo done (don't get excited, I'm not dropping that for a while) and learning I have no fucking clue how to balance this shit.
Will probably have to adjust shit again once other people test it and do different builds too.
Bats too.
It'd be so fucking funny if we end up getting Bat Devil round 3
spill. (anonymised)
also this reminded me that the theme I used for Melchom fucks a lot

I think its fair to criticise classic JRPGs for mostly being mash attack, but a lot of modern RPGs don't implement appropriate solutions. Throwing minigames in for every action doesn't actually fix anything, it just distracts from the actual problem - which is a lack of meaningful strategy / depth

very orange! white stark shapes on an orange background, creature like thing with two legs on the left, pile of small things bottom right, circle with lines inside top right, it is bright and glowing, it is like eating a citrus fruit

Third time's the charm... kept messing up the upload... she is a cousin to Equant.

Though that's probably not the sole reason. I think partially it's also that, I would say everything I've heard so far leans towards being considered experimental which as a "genre" is gonna be relatively niche forever and always, as sad as that is.
I can see why. Based on what I've heard so far (admittedly just like 3 tracks atm) dubstep is the last thing I would describe his music as.
Looked them up coz I was *sure* I heard that name somewhere before. I was correct, I know them bcuz Acid Rain has been in my main playlist for fucking years
Thanks for hosting #TurnBasedThursday
There just aren't enough horror RPGs these days, y'know?

Attempting a new posting style I call "just posting whenever" where instead of waiting for a specific day and then forgetting about it, repeating for several weeks, thus not posting for 2 months, I'll just post whenever I have something to share instead.
So.
Here's a place.

#ihyps beat the game today.
50. The End is Nigh
A stress-inducing platformer from the creator of Super Meat boy. Easily one of the hardest games on this list, especially if you're one of those freaks who loves 100%ing all the games they play. If you're into the challenge it's an incredible experience.
49. Vintage Story
A voxel-based wilderness survival with a focus on deep survival gameplay and eldritch horror elements - a combination that shouldn't work, yet surprisingly does.
48. Toilet in wonderland
An incredible comedy game. If you haven't already seen or heard of this game, do yourself a favour and play it blind. I promise it's worth it.
I'm not even giving you a screenshot for this one, even that'd risk spoiling it.
47. Garlic
A challenging platformer, with really fun and creative level design. Light hearted and silly tone.
46. Sonny 2
A flash era RPG focused almost entirely on combat. The gameplay is deep, the story is engaging (though it'll never be finished), and the music is excellent.
45. 77p Egg: Eggwife
Accurate UK life simulator. Crass, juvenile, and stupid. Incredibly fun combat encounters and gunplay though.
44. Cry of Fear
You've already seen some guy on youtube recommend this game. But it really is just that good. It's also got atmosphere for days.
43. Post Void
A barrage of colour and sound that somehow congeals into an engaging and endlessly replayable FPS.
42. LISA The Timeless
The best Lisa fangame*
*until I find a better one.
41. Haven and Hearth
A free multiplayer wilderness survival game. Incredibly chill atmosphere, and incredibly relaxing gameplay. Difficult learning curve to begin, but once you're over the hurdle it's real fun.
40. Kero Blaster
Created by the original dev of Cave Story. A fun and challenging run-and-gun just like you would expect. Fuck Nicalis.
39. Wuppo
A super fun platformer. Incredibly cute, cheerful, and overall simply pleasant. Not particularly difficult either - unless you play on insane mode.
