Coalition leaders @acceaction.bsky.social & allies at City Hall urging Councilmembers Yaroslavsky & Padilla: agendize the public bank motion and direct CAO to close the funding gap. Every week of delay is capital our communities donβt see--keep LA dollars here for housing, small biz, clean energy.

The century-old Bank of North Dakota is rated A+/Stable by S&P, delivered 18% returns last year, and remains safer than Wall Street banks with strong reserves and local partnerships with CDFI's, community banks & credit unions.
Bank lobbyists are spreading misinformation. LA has never had a real bank. The old LA Community Development Bank was a private-sector loan fund, not a bank. It wasn't chartered, unregulated & didnβt take deposits. A public bank would be regulated & accountable to LA communities.
Should LA start a public bank? Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez says yes & we agree! A public bank means local control, no new taxes, and real investment in housing, small biz & green jobs. It's time our money worked for Angelenos, not Wall Street shareholders.
Backed by four council offices, the public bank plan will explore how the city can cut Wall Street fees, lower borrowing costs & invest in community needs. With $1.4B in annual debt costs, it's time!
