Finally.
Finally.
Kansas invalidated a trans woman's license even though she never changed her gender marker.
It's not about the gender marker. It's about targeting trans people and making their lives unlivable.
Melee Attacks in PVP Must BeΒ Fast!
There is a common misconception in PVP game design that melee attacks should be slow and reactable in order to make it fair for your opponents to play around them. The problem with this is that it fundamentally breaks the core game dynamic, resulting in a gameβ¦
screenshot of the youtube video, "Zelda but it's a modern game" The thumbnail contains a lot of unnecessary ui elements over the game.
A joke about excessive interruptions and handholding isn't funny when it's about a game that already has excessive interruptions and handholding.
I don't hear anything communist in here, but it would be cool if it happened.
Ahhhh.... fuck. I have been pro-nuclear. As I understand it, modern reactor designs have gotten a lot safer, such as thorium reactors, which have no connection to creating nuclear weapons, but of course, if you're going to engineer another Chernobyl then that doesn't matter much!
"hey, what if I had an install that I could activate that turns off all your attacks except jab, and it only ends when you push me into the corner" FUCK OFF TCGS
Though if some motherfucker plays a stun deck against me in yugioh, they can go to hell.
I agree. I was never the kind of person to get upset at other characters. Everything is a part of the game, and everything can be overcome. That's just the law of fighting games.
Possibility Space: Every state that a game can occupy. Everything that can ever happen in a game. Differentiated Depth: All of the meaningfully different states in a game. All of the unique things that can happen in a game. Relevant Depth: All of the game states that players know about, can perform, and judge to be useful to them.
I finally remade my old infographic on the 3 filters of depth!

Hey, can I get in on this? I've been looking for exactly this type of thing.
NES games universally coded the jump parabola first, then let you modify it by releasing the button, Keen has you simply ascend for as long as the button is held, or a timer runs out.
They had pretty much every capability to write games as good as those on the NES and they just... Didn't. I was reading through the code of Commander Keen 4 for a research project and it struck me immediately that they coded the jump incorrectly.
FUCK, and I missed this?
Call your house rep and tell them to support HB 2540 which will increase the amount disabled people can save from $2k to $10k and remove the marriage penalty where you lose your only source of income if you get married regardless of how little they make. Switchboard: (202) 224-3121

MOREOVER, ICE MUST BE DESTROYED
We are living through one of the biggest crackdowns on free speech in academia in history. Liberals are complicit as they castigated anti-genocide protestors and their publications fearmongered about things like wokeness and trigger warnings while the right planed McCarthyism 2.0.
That's a great point that I've seen missed in recent discourse. This is inflicting incredible material harm, not just to the environment, but to necessary infrastructure!
I have a high quality SSD from before this whole fiasco that I still haven't installed.
posting some of the fanart brainworms i've been having here as well!

I finished teaching the class that I was asking this about last month. Maybe next time!
Two panel comic. Top panel is Scott Language staring off into the distance exasperated. Under him is text that says "What will it take for people to finally give fighting games a fair shot?" Bottom panel is the Markest Ruffaloest ass Hulk gibing him a small upturned smile while handing him a taco that says "EGO DEATH" on it.
Anyways I made this but got busy at work.
Oracle of Seasons is my favorite Zelda game! I'm rooting for you, and it looks like the game is doing some really cool stuff!
I love the missions in both AC+R and Xrd. I feel like the AC+R missions give you interesting restrictions that push fundies (like no jumping, only combos damage, etc), and the Xrd missions help you drill common scenarios.
I'd like enemies more tailored to teach basics (fireball/AA, etc)
Work in progress! I have the code that can read motion inputs and even tell you if you did it wrong and how, but I don't have notes yet. Sf6 had a version of this with Hadou Pizza, but they weirdly require you to progress a fair ways before unlocking it.

You need a certain amount of cultural momentum I think, or you need an on-ramp.
I wrote about this here, and my current project is a rhythm game that teaches FG motions.

I think games get more leniency when they rely on common skills (eg. mouselook shooting, or 2d platforming) and fighting games are just so different from everything else that it's hard to convince people to learn a Quarter Circle.
But Mexico has/had a culture where everyone grew up with KOF.
But unless work is done to address the specific stumbling blocks of newer players, single player content can only do so much.
Of course meanwhile Deadlock can be hideously complicated (item shop + movement) and does just fine because fuck you.
I think the issue is that FGs don't invest in making themselves understandable, which means better feedback about what's going on. Frame advantage happens faster than you can see.
Single player content lets people mash buttons for 200+ hours and slowly figure out what they're doing, which helps.

Yeah, that checks out.
