I think he hit his MacDermid's helmet TBH. Even @billspaulding.bsky.social said that when Gadjovich's helmet popped it, it cause MacDermid to lose his balance and that's what let to that final punch and takedown.
Not to spoil it, but Jonas Siegenthaler and Johnny Kovacevic are named #NJDevils MVPs for taking on the toughest matchups and still having the biggest xGF on the team. Obviously, Nico Hischier is often out there with them and he has a HUGE hand in this.

The only reason Gadjovich got any punches is because his helmet hit MacDermid, knocking him off balance. And again, MacDermid wound up in the penalty box and Gadjovich wound up being tended to in the locker room. Devils aren't pushovers any more.
