The fascist movements have never cared about the rules and have always literally stopped at nothing to seize power. The progressive movement in the US has been hamstring and crippled by centuries of white supremacy, sexism and general rat fuckery.

Thing is, we're starting down the barrel of a fascist movement. It has been helped along by decades of appeasement and "surely this time they'll follow the rules". But it's a movement of "fuck your rules, I want power". Bernie has been saying the same stuff as AOC, but for far longer...

And this right here is why we need some kind of transferrable/ranked choice vote. All those "protest vote" clowns would actually be able to put in a secondary vote for someone with a chance of winning so we would get to see who actually won.
